Hi there!

I've never started thread here, but I'd love your thoughts on my first pair of studs. They are a present to wear for FI & I's upcoming wedding, so we'd love for them to be a forever pair. They are a pair of BGD signature 1.06 tcw, E/SI1's, both labeled eye clean and scoring below a 2 on the HCA. FI and I picked them out because they seemed the most well-matched in terms of size and the H&A patterning with the ASETs & Idealscope images and because each was labeled as eye-clean. We have received them, and we think they are stunning - they are also the first ideal stones that either of us have ever seen.

We're within the return period, so I thought I would check to see what you think or them or if any of you would have any reservations at all. No doubt about it - we think they're gorgeous - really, I've never seen anything like them in real life. BGD was great to work with, and I can't imagine a world where anyone goes wrong picking BGD signature stones. But, we're novices, so I thought cautious optimism would be prudent and that it's always better to ask than not :-)

Here are the links to the stones and their info/images/reports:

I can see the H&A patterning, and they appear eye clean to me (though I think I might have the appraised within the return period to check, and for insurance purposes, so I don't worry about losing them all the time, notwithstanding screwbacks). They are both bright as can be and super fiery. However, the AGL light imaging for the stone ending in -027 is a little muddied in the center as compared to the ASET or either the imaging and ASET for the stone ending in -037. I feel like other threads have suggested that one trust the ASET moreso than the AGL imaging, in which case - awesome! That and ASETs have gradations of color as opposed to the stark red, blue, green, and gray in the AGL imagining, so maybe it's not as telling for this reason? In either case, I just wanted to check.

I haven't had a chance to take pretty SMTB-type pics or that would in any way do the stones justice, but I attached a quick ear shot (so hard to take!). Too much for eventual day-to-day wear? I tried on pairs at difference weights, and even down to a half tcw looks large on me, but I figure they'll shrink in size as I get used to them - gotta love DSS :-)

Any and all thoughts are welcome - I really appreciate it!

You're going to need a really big stick to beat them! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

Beautiful and not too big for everyday wear. They look perfect on your ears!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. :appl:

Thank you Andelain & Missy!

I really appreciate it - we both really love them - they're just such a large purchase that I couldn't fathom not running them by you guys, especially since we don't know how exactly we should reconcile the difference between the ASET and the AGL image for the one stone :-)

(And, sorry about the picture flipping around - I only just saw that little oops :wall: It's a good thing I don't have a technology job )

Gorgeous!

They are BGD signature cut stones. You're trying to overanalyze the reports. They are top cut stones and look perfect in your ears!

Enjoy them and stop worrying! You will be a beautiful bride with those in your ears!

AprilBaby - thank you!

MissGotRocks - I really appreciate the reassurance. You are right - I got caught up reading thread upon thread upon thread, all amazing & detailed information, which then prompted the question about the AGL scan. I wouldn't have thought twice if all I had seen were the ASETs :-) I do love the stones, the settings, everything - I had never really understood why people liked rounds so much, and now having finally seen some that were beyond well cut in person, it's like a little light went off, as in totally new world, and I "get it." I can't wait to wear them for the wedding!

Beautiful choice!!! I have a pair of BGD Sig H SI1 1.00ctw studs and they made me fall madly in love with MRB's. Trust me, you won't ever want to change your earrings again!

If Lesley or crew paired them up for you, no worries.

You may want to ask BGD about the backings for the studs. Bought a pair for my daughter, she proceeded to lose one because the back clamp came off, next pair had "lapousette" backs, they are like a clamp and don't come off.

Thank you Woofmama! I definitely read your upgrade thread when I was trying to learn - your studs are gorgeous, and I know what you mean - these little guys really opened my eyes as to the beauty of MRB's! We really wanted to pick out a "forever pair," and knock on wood, I think they're it :-)

WillyDiamond, I had picked out a few different pairs at different weights, and they said all of them were beautiful :-)

I asked a ton of questions about the settings to figure out the lowest setting with added security and went with the classic martini with screwbacks. As much as I wanted to go the friction back route, I would have been nervous. I would definitely consider la pousettes down the road though - I would want to try them on to make sure they don't lock too far back on the post to prevent the earring from falling forward - folks here seem to really like them!

I think you have the perfect forever pair. Great size, not too big or at all small, BGD signature cut, and E's. What more could a girl ask for?
