This one looks more promising, but the lack of red on the edges is going to make this stone look smaller due to reduced overhead light return on the edges.Date: 2/25/2010 6:23:12 PM

Here''s another I''m looking at. It''s a 2.04 J VS2. It seems much stronger from the ASET, with a real concentration of stong reflection and contrast in the center.
Depth: 68.9%
Table: 65.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Extremely thick
Culet: Large
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.20*7.21*4.97
Huge price difference between an F and J that accounts for most of the price difference for sure. The price difference in cut and vendor may account for 10 - 20% at most. GOG has a lifetime buyback and upgrade on those two stones, which costs a bit more.Date: 2/27/2010 2:23:57 PM

I do like the large table and more generally the look of 4 main cushions with this facet configuration which all seem to have large tables. Seems like a more 'modern/clean' look to my eye, while not going as far as say the GOG hearts and arrows which looses the charm of a cushion in my opinion.
CunkyCushionLover - I too was a little worried about the fact that this stone may look smaller with the red not strongly extending to the edges, but it does at least have some red going to each corner, and the green will still return light - just not with the intensity of the center, right?
Thanks for the comparison suggestions too. #7014 appears to have very similar specs to the stone I'm looking at, and the ASET comparison seems interesting. The one I was looking at seems to have less, blue and leakage, but the GOG stone has much more red out to the edges. The GOG has better color (G vs. J), but beyond that, I can't justify the ~70% price premium for the GOG stone (could afford it, just don't see the value proposition).
Understanding that I'm more of a modern than a chunky kind of guy, are there other facet configurations you would recommend?
Thanks.
Good find! That has potential to be nice and faces up a bit larger too since it is only 64% depth.Date: 2/27/2010 2:47:14 PM

Unfortunately as I said not much to choose from in modern facet style cushions, the only other thing I would suggest is having GOG or JA call in this one http://www.bluenile.ca/diamond-search?pt=setform#diamonds_pid=LD01675426. (An 8 main modern faceted cushion, you can see an example in this video of what it will be similar to see http://www.vimeo.com/9188543.)
