Hi there! I have an AVR on hold at GOG and am just looking for opinions/confirmation that it's a good one =)

Diamond info (stats, ASET, DiamXray)
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12281/
David has confirmed that it is 100% eye clean.

As for setting advice, I've been admiring Mark Morrell's Petite Torchiere  I'm pretty sure this will be what I set my AVR in. My question is about the melee on the side... Mark's site says that he uses F-G coloured diamonds and I'm wondering that since my center stone will be an I colour should I request for him to use G coloured melee, or even see if he could do H coloured? Or will it really matter...? Or should I skip the side diamonds all together? Though I'd really prefer not to since I love the setting with them, but all opinions are welcome.

So what do you all think?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Get the diamonds. Get the F/G. It will be gorgeous.

Thanks Gypsy, I really appreciate the reply =)
I think it will be beautiful too. Though I can't imagine a much better pair than an AVR and Mark Morrell - Perfection in my eyes!

And you think the AVR I've picked out is a good one? To me it looks great but I'm not a diamond expert by any means.

It's lovely.

I love that diamond so much! You can't go wrong with it. And the Mark Morrell setting sounds like a divine match.

Re: Opinions on an August Vintage Round (AVR) & setting advi

Aw, thank you both so much! I really value your opinions =)
I'm so in love with this AVR so it's wonderful to hear that it's as beautiful to others as it is to me.

You have picked a really beautiful AVR!!!! It will look great in any setting!!!!

Re: Opinions on an August Vintage Round (AVR) & setting advi

Go for it!... :appl:

I love AVR's, as you might expect, and mine is also an I color. I would not hesitate to get the petite torchiere with the little diamonds in a higher color. They are on the sides so it won't matter at all! Can't wait to see it!

Thanks everyone, it has officially been purchased!!
diamondseeker, your AVR is absolutely STUNNING  I've been lurking your threads and admiring it for a while now. Seeing your I coloured AVR is what convinced me I could do I in colour - it's just perfect! I think a slight bit of warmth looks great in AVRs and AVCs. Well, I'll speak with Marie again tomorrow and get the ball rolling with the setting and hopefully I don't have to wait TOO long before I can come and show you all the finished product =) In the meantime I'll just continue to stalk all of your threads and admire your big, beautiful diamonds

Hello Zoom! I have a K 1.33 AVC and I LOVE it.. it's in a pendant.

I can't wait to see how this ring comes out.. I love the AVR and dream of having one.. maybe someday :) this setting will be magnificent I think.. I love the petite torchiere! I have to bookmark this thread so I can keep up with the new ring once it's done.. I think you will be very happy with the August Vintage diamond... I have a MRB and I had an OEC years ago and I loved that old stone.. more than my MRB that my husband so graciously bought me :) congratulations and David is a sweetheart!

Hi there, Tekate!
Your pendant is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I would love to own both an AVR and AVC someday too. They are truly the most beautifully cut diamonds I've ever seen. I honestly have never been too into diamonds until I found Pricescope and discovered AVR and AVCs  As soon as I saw these diamonds I knew that I would own one! It was a tough choice between the two but ultimately it came down to loving the facet patterns on the AVR just a tiny bit more.

Enough of me rambling about these beauties. I can't wait to share the pictures when it's complete. This is going to be such a long wait! I might go a bit poopy waiting for it to get here and then I have to wait for my boyfriend to propose :loopy: I'm sure he will at least let me get quick peek at it before he hides it so I'll snap a quick picture to post when it arrives.

There's something about the large facets of OECs, AVRs and AVCs that many people seem to be drawn to. I knew I prefer them so much more the newer cuts/smaller facets, not that they aren't lovely too =)

Thanks for the congratulations, I'm so excited  and David really is so great! He has been such a pleasure to work with thus far. I'm in Canada so it's costing me a bit extra to work with a US company but the amazing people at GOG make it more than worth it =)
