Bumping the post...hoping for a quick reply. I need to make a decision in the next 24 hours or so.

Thanks!

To be honest. I'd pass this: the table is far too big to allow decent sparkle, the thick girdle does not serve to anything but added weight and smaller spread and the price is by no means impossible to match.

If you saw this and liked it, the decision remains up to you, but a much smaller table and higher crown (big tables do not allow for this), with a medium girdle are considred desirable, and for good reasons. If given the choice, most people preffer these characteristsics too.

I would like to know something of the optics of such a top stone (G-VVS are top grades, so why shouldn't the cut reach the same height?), but that may limit options too much.

Sorry I did not post these earlier. There are better options out there and I hope you would consider some alternatives. What range of specs do you have in mind for this purchase? I would go about seeking a F-G, VS2 or better... to keep the visual appearence of the G-VVS combination unspoiled and seek a better cut (smaller depth, even smaller table than depth and a medium girdle). On top, some optical analysis would not hurt decissiomaking either, of course...

Absolutely agree with Valeria. Emeralds also show color and inclusions very well, with less facets to hide behind (like round stones). That in mind, keep the table and depth under 70% for a more efficient cut.

If you have not already seen the chart for emeralds within good proportions, here is the link:

AGA Charts for Emeralds

I saught a Radiant, so I used this chart religiously, and found quite a few emeralds that were well cut. I know you can too! Good luck!!!

Here are some options I picked up in a hurry...

WWW1

WWW2 (hoping that 'VT' girdle does not mean 'very thinck')

and WWW3

also, I could not ignore the optics of this piece
and the fiery personality of it's colleague ( WWW4 )

Hope this helps... Following the known cut standards for this shape (teh AGA's posted above) would make a cut shopping tool, as soon as you get an idea what "look" those combinations of percentages deliver. The Cut Advisor software on the above mentioned GoodOldGold site serves this purpose quite well, I would say.
