I am soliciting opinions on nice temporary solitaire settings. I am using the word "temporary" interchangeably with affordable and white gold. As those of you know who have been following my story, I have opted to go with a temporary setting for the proposal and then I will search for the permanent setting with my girlfriend. I was thinking of going with something like this 4-prong tiffany style setting from WF: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/4-Prong--Tiffany--Style---14k-Gold_609.htm.

Will this look nice for a couple months? Any other ideas? One other note, I would like the setting to be thin. Thanks for any suggestions!

Well, that''s yellow gold, not white. Also, I prefer six prongs for the solitaire, even if temporary (but this is a matter of taste).

If they could make it in WG, I think that would be ideal. It's a very attractive solitaire. I had a setting like that with a very inexpensive wedding band with my 1+ carat diamond for over a year, and I got many many compliments.

Very smart move. That ring would be the perfect temp setting. Since we don''t know the size, four prongs would be great. Sometimes six prongs overpower a little stone.

I think thats a really nice idea that you pick out the diamond and let her pick the setting eventually. A nice simple solitaire is perfect.

I prefer 4 prongs, someone else said they prefer 6. Really a matter of personal preference.

Good luck!
