Hello PSers,
I wanted to get some expert opinions on this matter. I asked a dealer to take a pave stock ring with 4 prongs (pictures 1 and 2) and make it with a 6 prong head, while keeping the shank exactly the same. They sent me a picture of the ring (picture 3). To me the shank looks nothing like in the pictures. First, the shank in picture 3 has teeth-like things along the edge of the shank side. Second, the side of the shank looks very flat, where as in the images of the stock ring, the shank if also flat but the edges are more rounded and smooth. And finally, the pave stones look smaller and further apart in the third picture, whereas the stock ring images the stones look closer together.
When I pointed this out to the dealer, they said that this is one of there most popular stock rings and that no one has complained about it. meaning, no one has ever noticed the differences from the stock ring pictures. They do agree that the stock ring images are different than the photo they sent me of the ring with 6 prongs. They will redo it to make it look like the stock ring images. I'm not very confident they can do it now since the screwed up like this the first time, but we'll see.
My question is, do others see this too or am I just being super picky? Of course I can't ask my GF because it would ruin the surprise!
