Hi Everyone:

I am having Sally at Heart of Water Jewels make her beautiful Iolani setting for my .75ct OEC. It will be my engagement ring and I will pair it with some sort of plain gold band. It will be in all 18k yellow gold except for the top bezel around the stone which will be in white gold. I want the wraps around the shank, but am struggling with whether to have the leaves that cathedral up to the basket. I think it could look beautiful either way, am leaning ever so slightly towards no leaves, but am having great difficulty making up my mind.

I've taken the liberty of using Katebar's beatiful zircon ring as an example... I hope you don't mind!
First pic is the lovely top down view of the setting, followed by the side view, and then my pitiful attempt at side view with no leaves.

Please let me know which version you prefer and think would be most "aesthetically pleasing" for an e-ring. Thank you!!

I agree with you, I like it without the leaves too. It looks somehow more "engagementy" without the leaves.

I'm thinking no leaves as well - the leaves might give the ring a more "casual" look, I think it looks more like an engagement ring sans leaves. It's a beautiful setting!

Without leaves!

I like it both ways but I do think it feels more engagementy without the leaves so that would be my vote.

I like it without the leaves for an engagement ring.

maybe I am the only person who likes the leaves...but I like cathedral settings. I also think it flows nicely with the wraps. are the leaves pear sidestones?
