Hi! New to this forum and diamonds in general. Ive been doing my research but still wanted the opinions of people who have more experience than I

First - On Ritani - What kind of reputation does Ritani have? Me and the future wife really like a setting / diamond on their website but are skeptical about buying online. Are they well known and should I have any concerns buying online from them?

Second - On the ring/diamond - I am looking for quality over size and want to get a great quality diamond but at the same time do not want to pay for paper value. We are looking for a round between .8 and .9 and want an excellent cut grade. My question is on the color and clarity. A diamond we found is .85 rated H color and VS2 clarity. How much different is this going to be from a colorless, flawless diamond? Are the hints of color and flaws in clarity going to be noticeable and take away from the diamond? Again I want great quality but my only concern is how it looks to the naked eye

Here is the diamond / setting we are looking at..

Ring - http://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/double-french-set-band-engagement-ring-in-palladium/4776

Diamond - http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-0-85-Carat-H-color-GIA-certified/D-GM27JS

Cut Ideal
Color H
Clarity VS2
Polish Excellent
Symmetry Excellent
Fluorescence None

Thanks!

I think that diamond could be fine just looking at the report, BUT there are no pictures, no idealscope images to show us light return, etc. I just wouldn't buy a diamond from Ritani.

Instead, I would choose an ideal cut diamond from WhiteFlash and order the Ritani setting through them. Then you get a top quality diamond and they also send it to Ritani for your ring to be custom made for your stone.

This one is $4170 with pricescope/wire discount and is a top cut quality, hearts and arrows stone.

I am going to forewarn you, though, that a wide band like the ring you have selected will tend to make the center diamond look smaller than it would on a thinner band. (WF deals with Ritani, so even if that particular ring is not on their site, they can order any Ritani ring.)

My ring is a ritani and the quality is fantastic. The digital pics online do not do justice to just how delicate the rings are. I wish I could show you the difference between the ring I have and their digitally generated image of it, but I dont think they sell it on there website anymore. I would agree though get the stone from GOG or WF, they sell Ritani and they have more information about there stones. Plus, PS discount.

Ritani's photos are amazing, I think it is the best I've seen. However, that one doesn't have photos. See if you can get them.

I agree, some even have videos!

Oops, I forgot that Good Old Gold also sells Ritani. They also carry ideal cut diamonds and are a great jeweler!
