So I started to research asschers as I have convinced myself that my girlfriend will love this diamond shape the most. I have read many posts on this forum regarding asschers, especially posts from strmdtr who seems to be very knowledgeable about diamonds in general. There are no jewelers around my area that I know or any of my friends know that have a asschers in stock; therefore, I will be forced to pick the stone from an online vendor. Given that I''m going to be spending 7k-10k on this stone, I run a big risk of facing disappointment once the stone arrives by mail. I am going to buy my stone off an online vendor that has a 30-day return policy so the return process won''t be as stressful as say a 10-day return policy. I have picked out one stone on which I have asked the vendor to provide me a picture and a detailed profile. Please let me know what you guys think given the limited amount of information I will provide below. Much thanks!

Shape: Asscher
Cut: Excellent
Color: D
Clarity: VVS2
Table: 61.3%
Depth: 66.1%
Crown: 15.6% - .90mm
Pavillion: 47.4% - 2.74mm
L/W 1.01
Girdle - STK - TK
Culet - 0.9% - Pointed
Polish/Symm - Ex/VG
Fluor - Faint
5.79-5.76-3.81

P.S. Can someone tell me how to downsize a .png file to be able to attach it? The picture file the vendor sent me is too big to be attached. Is there software that will let me do this?

Don''t know about the picture thing, and I''m sure it''s pretty, but maybe D VVS is overkill. You could drop down a little on the clarity and color and have a better value/ or a bigger size.

open it then go too the program it opened in and save as then select jpg that will help.
Otherwise you use the "msg admin" button and ask for help from the admin.
The numbers sound ok, you could go down in color and clarity and up in size if you wish.

Ditto...I''m no expert but after being on PS it seems there''s a concensus that you could go down to at least F, maybe G, before noticing any major difference. Also, in my opinion a VVS clarity may not be the best place to spend your $$$....you won''t be able to see your investment!

just my opinion!!!!

Ok - so I went out on a hunt for a new bigger size asscher following the advice of people replying to my initial post. Thank you very much. Here are the details. I appreciate any feedback. (P.S. - I still can''t get a damn picture on here, when I leave work I will try to figure this out)

Shape: Asscher
Cut: Very Good
Color: E
Clarity: VS1
Table: 59%
Depth: 71.1%
Crown: 15.2% - .88mm
Pavillion: 51.0% 2.96mm
L/W 1.03
Girdle - TK - VTK
Culet - 1.9% - Pointed
Polish/Symm - Ex/VG
Fluor - None
5.92-5.77-4.10

This stone is 0.25 carat bigger and costs 1000 more than the initial one

I really can''t choose anything but a round by the numbers, but I''d recommend calling Jonathan at Good Old Gold for asschers as he can usually find beautiful ones.

Here''s one in H color, but he can call in some with the specs you want.

little deep for the table size and crown height and should be discounted accordingly.
There are better ones out there as this one is just barely bigger than the other one due too the depth.
$1k more..just say no and keep looking...
