SO cut isnt king? lol

Cut is king. It's SO king, that even GIA EX is too broad. That's why we ask for the angles. So we can evaluated each stone. The angles matter. That's why Yssie said the E you had in one of your other threads was good. Because she looked at the angles.

If you want a short cut: https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca Under 2 pass. Get and idealscope image to confirm performance (that Pearlmans can provide you or you can go there and look through the scope yourself).

That's why I posted the below links in your last thread and asked you to read them:

https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/diamond-cut Please read here. A poorly cut stone will look smaller and darker than a well cut stone. And it is a big difference.

Here's what the idealscope image does: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/firescope-idealscope It evaluates light performance.

And I'll add these links now with will explain the angles to you better:

Pearlmans can all stones in for you. All you have to do is find them on JA and they can call them in for you. Or Blue Nile.

You aren't limited to Pearlmans in house stock. That's one of the reasons they are great.

ssalerno, do you really want help? Sure doesn't seem like it. You have a lot of knowledgable, great people trying to help you make the best decision and maximize what you get, but you seem hell-bent on not listening/reading, overpaying or settling for mediocrity.

And please post the pics from your lady's pinterest pages.

We'd like to see the actual rings she has picked out.

Here's the shortcut on picking a great cut without having to take time to evaluate the angles and whatnot:

Get an AGS graded stone that received cut grade Ideal 0. The best cut diamonds get sent to AGS because AGS is strictest on cut. Might be a bit softer on color than GIA, but not off by very much. My personal experience is AGS is pretty strict on clarity, too. I have seen some GIA graded VS2 and SI1 stones lately that make me wonder if GIA has gone soft on clarity. That's just my personal observation.

GIA triple excellent is a more lenient grade.

EGS is very soft on grading both cut and color, and also clarity. Color and clarity grades from EGL use the same letters, but are 2-4 grades lower than what GIA would give the stone.

IGI is a mall-store grading lab. It's for average diamonds that are sold in mall stores.
