I was looking into buy this diamond, but the photo doesn't look so good for me and i really don't know to much about diamonds like some of you!. I see that crystal but don't know if it's going to be visible at the naked eye. The seller told me it's was a naked eye diamond. Well i hope you understand my concern and give me some advice about buying it or let it go.
thanks!.2S233S-2.jpggia%20report.jpg

SI2s are tricky...they can be a great value but it isn't always easy to find one that's eyeclean.

Thus, the concern is if it's eyeclean or not. That photo is very enlarged and therefore isn't a great indicator...and I don't know what "naked eye" means. You should call the seller and ask very specific questions, to find out what distances and angles the inclusions are visible from, and to make sure that its up to your standards. In particular I'd worry about the inclusion under the table, because it can't be covered with a prong.

How's the vendor's return policy? No harm in ordering it to take a look and sending it back if it doesn't meet your standards.

I think the magnified views are great, but they can do more harm than good sometimes because they make every. little. thing. look absolutely huge. I've just resized your image down to make the stone 6.5mm (pic is 65 pixels wide on my monitor) and the stone looks clean to me, though obviously this is NOT a scientific way of determining how the stone would look in real life. I just find sizing things down helps me get a better perspective sometimes.

My bigger concern with this diamond is that the photo shows that it is not returning light optimally from the under table region. I think it will look dark under the table in some lighting, darker than a diamond with different propotions would look.

I am also sceptical of diamonds RIGHT on the 1.00 carat grade because it suggests cutting for weight, and that might explain why this diamind is a weensy bit over deep and thus looking darker under the table.

What is the price? If it is a mega uber deal and you can see it in person and compare to other diamonds with known optimal proportions (like an AGS0) then perhaps this one is the right compromise. I would rather see you look for something 0.90ct+ with better cut and clarity for your money, than stretch to juuust make the 1ct mark compromise.

What makes the diamond to returning light optimally from the under table region? the ideal cut? cause they just have GIA diamonds, just ideal cut but no polish or symmetry ideal. The price is 4,400. I can't see it in person :( how can i know if it's going to return light just by looking at a photo? Thanks for replying!

lol my mistake i i mean eyeclean (no naked eye) so sorry!

You did really well by picking a stone that is a GIA Ex cut! The particular angles the diamond is cut to is what will determine the light return under the table area. GIA Excellent cut grade ocassionally includes diamonds that more discerning diamond buyers would not buy. This is an example, where even though the diamond is a GIA Ex cut, the picture (and the proportions, if you know what to look for) suggest that it might have less than optimal light return under the table. Polish and symmetry do not matter. The price seems decent. But combined with the questionable eye cleanliness, I would ask your vendor if they have any other options for you, maybe just under 1ct? Or, you can have it sent to you loose to judge in person.

Oh, yeah. Agree with the above...was focused on the SI2 question...

The two stones that you posted are going to have very different optical qualities. The diamond from GOG is vintage type cut, though gorgeous, it performs differently than a RB, giving you bigger bolder flashes of color, whereas the RB stone that you picked from JA is going to have a more traditional disco ball of light effect that is more typical of the modern cut. Both stones are gorgeous, and would make a beautiful engagement ring. Has your gf suggested an interest in vintage cut diamonds or is she hopeing for a more traditional looking stone?

:) thanks for your reply. I've been married for 4 years but the first time we bought my ring at kay so you can imagine why i'm looking for a new diamond :/
I love both, i think i would going to choose the JA. I'm trying to learn more about diamonds all of you know a lot, thanks for helping!.
