Without seeing a diamond in person, is the steep/deep combination something that you would use to rule a diamond out all together? As a general rule, is a diamond with a 35 crown angle and 41 pavillion angle, something you would rule out all together?

In addition what do you think of this setting. Potentially, I am having this setting made with the diamond described below. The included pictures on this site are just for the setting, not the center stone.

I posted this diamond before and got some a decent amount of feedback. If there is any other considerations/feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Please note the attached GIA report. I am leaning towards it right now, as I believe I will be getting a decent deal on the stone and a very good deal on the setting.

I realize the very thin girdle is also a concern, as well as it being steep/deap. The stone yielded a 2.4 HCA. Overall what do you think of this diamond for the price, just under $13k. I know that is alot of questions....Thanks so much for any and all input.

I can''t get the hyperlink to the setting pics to post... any advice?

Sorry, you can''t link to external images, the link will be taken down by the moderators soon.

If you think the price is good, you can see the stone in real life and if you think it performs well, go for it. We can only go by the numbers, so we tend to err on the safe side.

I have seen a picture of the diamond, but it is coming from a family friend in the diamond business, on the opposite side of the country. Therefore, I am unable to see it in person unfortunately. I am able to return it, but don''t really want to go through all that since I am having the setting made along with it.

The numbers are rounded so it might show leakage with this angle combo or not, check the ring out carefully away from the store lights, look for a dark ring around the table or dark patches on the surface, also watch to see if the diamond goes dead once you have it in normal lighting, if it looks ok then fine.

Get a pro to check out the very thin part of the girdle to be safe, these aren't always an issue but have to be a stone by stone call.
