Hi all

I'm a new poster here but I've been visiting for a while :)

I'm recently engaged and my lovely fiancé has done a great job with the ring. However he had some issues with the jeweller not pinpointing exactly what we wanted. I think part of the problem is that we don't know how to describe exactly what we want to the jeweller so im turning to you experts for advice and opinions!

This is what we wanted without the side diamonds (I wish I remember where I took this pics so I could give credit, I never thought I'd be sharing publicly):

And this is what my ring actually looks like:

I feel like mine is more 'boxy'? How would you suggest I describe the differences if I were to go back to the jeweller to ask for minor changes? For one I would like the claws slightly curved, and perhaps more thinner at the top.

Am I just being too picky? I'm known to have too much attention to detail but for a simple claw I think the detail is important.

Oh and the jeweller had to add the bar on the sides for security hence the difference there.

Thanks in advance everyone. I hope that this post is compliant and in the right board?

When you are saying more "boxy" you need to tell them you are referring to the head of the ring (not the shank).

The curves are softer in the picture...did you show the jeweler the picture? Unless you are working with someone
who is good and has an eye for detail they may not be able to see the fine line between the two different heads.

I say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Thanks Tyty! It's helpful to know I'm not the only one who sees the differences, as slight as they may be. Yes I sent the salesperson the picture who reportedly sent it on to the jeweller. It also doesn't help not to liaise directly with the jeweller.

I would ask that a bar be on all sides of the prongs. Its common to have a basket in the prongs , but typically not just one/two bars on a few sides, with an open area on another
