Hi all,

I am new to this but hope to be engaged in the next few months or so. I know I definitely want a radiant center stone. I have quite a bit of questions and was hoping any experts and diamonds lovers could offer me some advice/opinions!For the record, the setting the diamond is in does not fit properly. My setting will have to be custom made so that is why the diamond looks like it sits so high. (I want mine to sit high but not quite as high) I have listed below a copy of the GIA report my jeweler gave me and also tried to attach pics of the diamond and setting I like thus far. Ok, so here it goes.

Specs from copy of GIA report (Date September 8 ,2005)

Shape and cutting style - Cut-Cornered Rectangular Modified Brilliant
Measurements- 7.11 x 5.60 x 3.93mm
Weight 1.32 carot
Depth- 70.2
Table 68%
Girdle- Medium
Cutlet- None
Polish- VG
Symmetry - Good
Clarity- SI1
Color G
Flourescence - None

Clouds are not shown

1.What should the depth and table be of a radiant cut diamond that is cut extrememly well? Is 70% depth too large?

2. Do you think the shared prong setting I have picked looks ok with a radiant diamond?

3. Does anyone have experience with an original (branded) radiant diamond? If so, are they better? Can i get a smaller one and will it sparkle more and appear bigger but it is and original radiant diamond?

4. How much do you think a fair price for this diamond would be?

5. Based on the measurement, what is the ratio?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing some replies!

The depth and table should be in the low to mid sixties. There are some beautiful radiants with depths and tables outside this range, but you have a better chance of getting a well-cut radiant with this range.

2. Do you think the shared prong setting I have picked looks ok with a radiant diamond?
I think a shared prong setting will look great with a radiant.

3. Does anyone have experience with an original (branded) radiant diamond? If so, are they better? Can i get a smaller one and will it sparkle more and appear bigger but it is and original radiant diamond?

I''ve seen some Original Radiant cut diamonds, and they seem to be cut very well, but there are some generic radiants that are just as nice. If you get a smaller Original Radiant cut, it may sparkle more and appear larger, but like I already said, there''s some very nice generic ones that will sparkle just as much and appear just as large.

4. How much do you think a fair price for this diamond would be?

I don''t know how much offhand a fair price would be, but you can do a pricescope search to see how much similar diamonds cost.

5. Based on the measurement, what is the ratio?

The ratio is the length divided by the width, which works out to be 1.27 in this case.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing some replies!
