I am loking at PS since 2-3 days and all i see people talk about WF and GOG.
can someone give true opinion about bluenile. Is it a good company to deal with, are their diamonds doesn''t meet industry standards or does the independent appraiser doesn''t give equivalent report about bluenile purchases (meaning a lower grade for quality)
why people don''t like bluenile other than they don''t have upgrade policy.
please share your experiences.

bottom line on BN is not enough information + leaches off the forum by not helping.
They don''t play in our sandbox so they don''t get recommended.

What does "not helping" mean?

What does ''not helping'' mean?
they don''t have someone here helping out at all.
They just buy banners and list diamonds.
My opinion is they don''t help us why should we help them.

I had a great experience with BN and recommend them. After what I have learned on PS I wish they gave more info. You are buying from them with less info. This doesn''t bother me too much because you can return. That being said I find their prices typically better than most of these other online vendors and for that reason will consider them in future.

I also purchased from BN before I ever knew anything about PS. The biggest issue with them is that they are essentially a drop-shipper. When you talk to customer service about a particular stone, that person is never going to be able to look at the stone for you and comment on what they SEE. They will provide commentary from the supplier re: eye-cleanliness, but it''s second-hand information and often times, it is difficult to get additional details.

Another big issue from a PS standpoint is that they do not provide pictures of the stone(s) in question. For those of us here, this is a big MUST! WF and GOG (since you mentioned them) have the ability to provide detailed analyses, including a SARIN report, magnified picture, idealscope and ASET images.

Lastly, as you mentioned, they don''t provide an upgrade option.

Other than that, their customer service reps are usually decently pleasant to deal with, they have an excellent, no-questions-asked 30-day return policy, and yes, their prices are often competitive. That being said, if you locate a stone on BN, most of the time, another vendor can access that same stone for you...and come pretty close, if not match their price.

Having done a lot of reading on PS, I fully understand the general consensus that BN does not provide enough information on their diamonds.

I have only bought pre-set, small diamond hoop earrings from Blue Nile before. They are very nice earrings for casual occasions. I wasn''t able to find anything comparable style-wise on PS vendors'' sites.

If you''re looking to buy something like a good (but not superb) quality pair of hoop earrings or other pre-set jewelry, Blue Nile might have a larger selection than a PS vendor and meet your needs. But if you want to take a more detailed look at a diamond before purchasing, including seeing Idealscope/ASET images, photos, etc., then a PS vendor would be the way to go.
