If I would get a Leon micropave setting with a 2 mm band for a 2.4 ct round stone, I would like the setting to be as open as possible to show off the ( AGS 000) centre stone. Many of his settings have a basket so if any of you have one like that, does it block your view of the stone, or enhance it . If it looks like a small line of sparkly micropave ( only .05 point melees) could be very pretty but I do not want to block the side and front views of the full stone. Do you think those melees are small enough that I would still get to see almost the whole stone?
Michael B petite princess shows off the stone but at the bottom I''m not so fond of the little diamond, just thinking it is there for stability.
Any suggestions or options?

well, i think it''s just a matter of preference. I don''t own a Leon but the gals here who have the basket settings love them. you are correct though that you won''t have an open sideview of the stone so that might not be a good choice if that is what you are really after. You might want to check with a michael b retailer but I think you can have the setting made without the diamond prongs or the little diamond in the middle of the head. Michael b will do some customizing so it''d be worth it to ask if you really love that setting.

I don''t have a Leon either, but I do have a 2mm pave setting (custom made by WF) with a simple open basket, and a 2.36 center stone. I think it is a beautiful look.

Thanks to both of you. LynnB, your ring is so beautiful and thanks to the close -up photo I can see that the basket line does not take away from the beauty of the stone. Your " bridge" is so graceful! It was also helpful to see the same size stone in a setting.
My designer says that if it has 4 prongs it must have some extra support so can''t just have the sides come up unless they would be much thicker, I guess.

I think the basket that Leon Mege uses is an integral part of most of his settings and most people who like his designs want the basket. He uses the basket as structural support for the larger stones he often sets.

I just got a Leon solitaire that has a basket. My basket does not have any stones on it but the amount of metal is pretty minimal and I can still see a good amount of my diamond. I don''t know if getting melee on the basket would change the width of the metal used in the basket and wind up blocking more of the stone. I haven''t posted pics of my ring yet, will try to tonight and include some pics from the side so you can see the basket.

Sorry, I don't mean to diverge from topic but I just have to say:

Lynn, I love, love, LOVE your ring. Have I told you I love your ring?
