Dear Whiteflash (particularly Katie H),

RE: Recent purchase
0.82 GIA Excellent Cut Round Brilliant Solitaire in Sleek Lines Legato Setting

A few weeks ago there was a post on the Pricescope forum where a forum member asked whether there was a bias from forum members towards PS vendors, particularly Whiteflash. I have recently reviewed that thread and it prompted me to write this letter….

I have recently (today, in fact) receiving a completed 0.82 solitaire engagement ring (in Sleek Lines Legato Setting) and felt compelled to comment on the nature of that previous thread and detail my dealings with Whiteflash.

After nearly 6 months of spending time learning about diamonds and looking at diamond rings in B&M stores, I was just about ready to head into the very important task of purchasing an engagement ring. This is no simple task for anyone, and the prospect of purchasing such an important and expensive item is daunting – let alone purchasing from an online vendor 10,000 miles away (I am in Australia).

Over the past 6 months I have not found the diamond, nor the setting that I could describe as ‘the one’ – I have looked at hundreds, both online, and in stores near to my home – just nothing seemed to be perfect……

Enter Whiteflash……

After an initial email and quick introduction Katie H at whiteflash contacted me (I will not use her full name for privacy reasons, as I do not know whether she would like it splashed around on the internet!).

Diamonds

I provided Katie with some details on what I was after, and she listened (via email). I also suggested a number of diamonds that I though met my requirements (size, quality etc). Within 24 hours Katie had made an evaluation of each of these diamonds (based on available information, lab reports etc) and had given her recommendations on which stone was best, why she considered it to be best and what other options should be disregarded.

Katie also provided a number of her own suggested stones that she thought might meet my criteria.

Setting

I had a rough idea of the setting I would like – including a ‘standard’ Whiteflash setting as well as ideas that I had for a semi’ custom setting incorporating the band of one setting and the head/prongs of another. Within 48 hours Katie had contacted the craftsmen at Whiteflash and provided me with a price for each setting, including the custom, and an estimated time for production of each.

So, after months of looking and searching for the perfect diamond, and the perfect setting, with the help of Whiteflash I now found myself in a position of having a number of perfect options for both the stone, and the setting itself…..

Over a period of a few weeks we whittled down the diamond selection to one or two and made a final decision after the diamond was received and inspected by Whiteflash.

Note here that I started using the term WE, (rather than ME or I), as the decision making process was, in my opinion, the perfect combination of me (the paying customer with certain thoughts ideas and expectations) and Katie (the diamond consultant with expertise and access to other associated professionals)……of course there was still room for PS members in this process….

I will not go into the details of the stone and/or setting and why I chose what I did (details of those decisions are on other threads within this forum if people would like to find them).

However, what I would like to comment on is the service that I received from Whiteflash.

I felt as though my purchase was the most important thing to Katie and the Whiteflash team (although, at $4000 relatively small in the scale of Whiteflash who no doubt sell diamonds worth tens of thousands).

Needless to say, I am absolutely delighted with my purchase, and I am absolutely, unreservedly thankful to Katie H and all of the other people at Whiteflash who have helped me along the way. Not one email was left un-answered and not one question slipped through the net – I was kept up to date at every process of the way –, from the receipt of the certificates, to the delivery and examination of the stone, to the production of the setting and the shipping of the item itself.

I have received service from Whiteflash that, without a doubt, surpasses the level of service that I have received from any other store - either online, or in person.

This has been such an important purchase for me and I am wholly thankful to the professional, friendly, expert advice that I received from Whiteflash and, in particular, Katie H.

I now feel capable of responding to that post which questioned whether PS members were biased towards PS vendors. I can now say that I will definitely have a bias toward Whiteflash, as, in my dealings with them, I have found them to be professional and courteous in a manner that far exceeds any other retailer I have dealt with.

Whilst I am positive that my girlfriend (future fiancé – fingers crossed) will absolutely love the ring as much as I do, I have been so impressed with Whiteflash that I am secretly hoping she wants an immediate upgrade - as this will give me the opportunity of going through the whole purchase process over again……….. I could be looking down the barrel of 20 years of constant upgrades……

Thankyou and goodnight!

PS (I am in no way involved with, or associated with Whiteflash and until 6 months ago I never even knew they existed)

DJQ, I hear ya. That has always been my experience in dealing with WF as well. I love them.

That said. PS is a special place with special vendors. You could find a lot of other PSers with similar stories about WF and other PS vendors. Hence the reason for the whole bias thread. I will admit that I am openly biased toward PS vendors. A lot of them take the time to come here and answer questions in a friendly and responsible manner. This place would not be the same without the unique blend that it has of Professionals, prosumers, and newbies and all the in betweens in whatever form. It makes for an interesting and fun mix. It''s what keeps me coming back year after year.

I worked with Katie H as well, and could not have been in better hands.

I have to agree with your Whiteflash observations...We bought my engagement ring, wedding ring, diamond upgrade, and my wedding pendant (see avatar), and my mom's DBY necklace through WF and couldn't be happier!

Another hurrah for Katie H. A sweeter, more patient girl, I have not met!

WF rocks!

I have to agree with your statement that you felt like your ring was the most important thing to WF. I felt exactly the same way!! Lesley made me feel like she was 110% focussed on my project and she was onto every single question and email immediately. I know they have like a gazillion other customers and projects going, but it's amazing they can make you feel like their number one customer from the other side of the world. I have said this before, and will say it again, I have never had that level of customer service before - it's beyond awesome!

I have this little secret fantasy that WF opens a store in Melbourne and I get a job there. I quit my job (which I studied at uni for 5 years to get and totally love) and spend all day helping customers and looking at sparklies all day! What a life!!! I would do it in a heartbeat!!!

Anwway, back to reality......................

Diamond Joe Thanks so much for your post about WF. You are very correct they are FABULOUSLY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just adore them and their customer service is platinum class, A+++++++++++++++++++

I''m also so very happy that you mentioned Katie H who is an absolute angel. I have worked with her on several occasions, including planning my e-ring and she was flawless in all our interactions.
I actually consider her a friend of mine although we have not met in person. She is a sweet, sweet girl with a heart of gold and a wonderful sales person but honest and trustworthy and hardworking and I could go on and on.
I would recommend WF in my sleep if I could they truly ROCK!

Joe, let me take a moment to say thank you for your kind words.

Our goal is to provide this same great experience to every single customer, and it''s most gratifying to hear that we''ve met the mark.

Thanks for the lift in our day!

Joe - I think I know your gf from elsewhere on the net, and I asked her to get you in touch with Katie after not hearing back from someone else. I saw the pics of your ring and WOW, it's amazing!

This is such a nice letter - thanks for posting it!

Hi Lauren,

Not sure if I''m the gf you''re talking about, but Diamond Joe isn''t my s/o. Although his ring is extremely similar to the one we purchased! (His is actually just a tad bigger

) Justin did work with Katie as well and had a great experience! It was so stress-free and they kept him updated along the way...and it even shipped out early!!! Kudos to Katie and the whole WF team. They are an absolute joy to work with.

When I first joined PS, I noticed that certain vendors, including WF, were frequently mentioned in glowing terms. I interpreted this as bias. After purchasing my diamond from WF and having the opportunity to speak with other vendors, I think the more accurate term is preference. We see WF, GOG, ERD, JA, Leon, MWM and others mentioned frequently on these forums. I don't need to spell out the names, except for newcomers [sorry...], because we are all so familiar with these folks. If we have issues with these vendors, they can expect that it will also be posted on PS. I think of PS as the "great equalizer"

Well, I didn't mean to write a

about this!!

I completely agree with everything you just said. I wasn''t biased to any online vendor when I first came to PS. But WF kept getting mentioned again and again, and after working with them myself, I will be a lifelong customer. They really are amazing!

Woohoo, it''s always great to hear a happy ending!!!

It was because of this forum that I tried WF recently and was bowled over with my experience!

Glad you had a great experience too!!

Oops - yes, you were exactly who I was thinking of! I thought it was odd knowing you were here that he would be planning the proposal, as if you''d have the willpower to not look.

In any case, I can''t wait til you can post your SMTR thread, too!

I had the same experience with WF. I was skeptical and a little scared that what showed up in my ring box wouldn''t match my expectations and it didn''t...it exceeded them! And the customer service!!!!! I felt like I was the only customer too and I had a similar budget (in the $4000 range, which isn''t that much when you are talking about diamonds). My close friends and family who know what my ring cost can''t believe the quality I got for my $$ and are blown away by my stories of the superb customer service. You just don''t see that very often these days. My sales person was James and he was phenomenal!!!! I worked with some others at WF at various points in the purchase process and everyone was fantastic. I even got a personal e-mail from the CEO of WF thanking me for my purchase. I agree with you! My husband and I were so happy with our experience that we were talking about upgrades the same week we bought my ring just to get the pleasure of dealing with them again!

I too can attest to the pleasure of working with Whiteflash. I just received the matching wedding band to my Allegro in D engagement ring setting (it''s now my avatar!). It arived just when they said it would and the workmanship is beautiful. Hassle-free and lots of email communications: email confrmations of the various steps along the way and notice of when the ring shipped. A great group of folks.

Thanks whiteflash.

Another VERY happy customer.... I call them "Wonderful Whiteflash"... I have found my lifetime jewelry source and no need to go anywhere else!

Thank you Whiteflash!!!!
