Hi!
I have been lurking for a few weeks while I shop for a new wedding ring/set/anniversary band. I came to the conclusion today that I have to register and post my issue with you guys on pricescope because you are the only ones that not only won''t think I am crazy but will actually tackle my issue!
Okay here goes the back story:
My wedding ring is a bar set eternity band - I think 1.7 CTW. My jeweler says the diamonds are nice.
I need to reset it because it is too small now (babies!) and the hand done setting is a bit messy - I think I will switch to shared prong but open on that.
I never did an engagement ring and figured we would do a three stone emerald cut down the line. After four years of wearing just the eternity band I really like the look of one great band but thought I should go a bit larger so it is substantial enough to never need to add onto it with an ering, etc.
My issue is that when I looked at larger eternity bands they look like doughnuts on my hand and don''t really sit right. So then I started thinking skip the eternity part and get more diamonds on top! So then I started looking at very chunky, lots of metal, bands with 4 rows of princess invisible set. Loved it - modern, funky, different, until it looked suddenly like a mens wedding ring circa 1980!
So know I am thinking very thick (3 ctw) pave 1/2 eternity with a metal edge - still modern, lots of sparkle, big, but also classic.
Although this look is so evening-ish in my eyes.
Then, I started thinking maybe I want just a special, unique cocktail ring to wear as my band and will wait until the right one jumps out at me.
Then! My husband says "i thought you wanted a three stone emerald cut". Which threw me in a tizzy of indecision because I thought we were waiting to spend that kind of money! Plus even if I had that ring I would still want something funky and band-ish to wear to mix it up.
SO NOW - sorry guys hang in there, almost done! - I think I really do need four rings! Am I crazy?? say I am not! Here is what I think:
Ring #1) Reset my eternity band with my original diamonds - petite, classic, pretty.
Ring #2) Thick (4-5 rows, 3CTW) pave band - lots of sparkle, classic, can wear on right hand as cocktail ring sometimes
Ring #3) Funky, modern, chunky diamond band (maybe invisible set?) - unique, fun, very sporty
Ring #4) the three stone emerald cut - no explanation needed
So - now I think I should do Ring #1 and #2 for my anniversary and build my collection with ring #3 and #4 later. My question to you all is
1) This isn''t wierd, right??
2) How do I judge pave bands? I know I like ones that are not "vintage-y" for myself. Love them on others as I have seen on this forum. I think I like larger stones in the pave. I like Damiani... I get nervous about having my jeweler custom make a pave band for me because from what I have seen of pave it all looks slightly different and takes on personality of each ring. Have you noticed this?
Advice?! Pictures?!
