Hi everyone,

My cousin is getting engaged, and since I know a little about diamonds she has asked me, to assist her boyfriend, in finding her a solitaire brilliant round ring between .05 ct. to 0.7ct. Her top 2 criteria points: 1. That it must face up white, and 2. Must 'sparkle' as much as possible for this price point.

I have been looking at fairly safe options on the Expert Selection + A-Cut Above selections on Whiteflash.
Generally these have a spread of between 5.1 - 5.4 mm.

But I just found one at Adiamor that could be a better option:
.67 ct. GIA triple ex, (states: feather, crystal) SI1, G, (Affinity cut) 56 table, 33.5 crown, 41.0 pav, 60.6 depth,
But the spread is 5.7mm - which makes it look like a 3/4 ct. and thus a tempting option.

I would be extremely pleased to hear any views - and any best suggestions you may have ??

Many thanks,

Crown angle is low. Affinity cut is meaningless as far as I can tell.

I know someone will be along to help you soon, but I need to go to bed. For now... just don't get that diamond.

at the size they are looking, i think a J would be face up sufficiently white. Id get an aset and make sure its eye clean

this is nice if they will give him a discount, which have him ask if they have a pricescope one, or a referral discount...
or if he could swing the extra 80.

I like the first stone that Neil found too better than the true hearts and its bigger! Put it on hold now and ask for an IS before someone else swoops in.

Here's a possible option from Blue Nile - a 0.67ct I-SI1 with 5.6mm diameter - the only listed inclusion is Twinning Wisp - the spread is 5.6mm - per HCA, it is a Fiery Ideal Cut (scoring 1.9 - Excellent within FIC range) and it scored all 1As in the AGA Cut Class Tool (excepting Crown Angle which was 2B) with an overall 1B score - http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD04876994 - priced at $1730 (apx $1704 via bank wire) and should be a firecracker! (If interested, ask BN about the twinning wisp, its color and location, and whether the stone is eyeclean to your standards)

And, Blue Nile has about a dozen of 14kt WG solitaire settings ranging between $260-$400 - http://www.bluenile.com/build-your-own-ring/settings?elem=image&track=main4

Agree here with Marymm above. Blue Nile will give you the most bang for your buck for size etc, if you stay in 'safe stats' ranges and ask some questions along the way.

Here's one which is about 5.5mm in diameter, but is a G in color. Since she said she wanted it nice and white, this would be a very safe bet.

Its stats are lovely and it should be a great stone. If I had a limited budget, this is definitely the way I'd go and, so long as this stone is eye clean, it would hit all the bases as specified. Its price is low because it has strong fluorescence, so check that this is not an issue. If it isn't, and the stone is eye clean, this would be a fabulous stone - hugely sparkly and very white!
