I am helping my boss with a gift for his wife. He is hoping to get her one carat diamond earings (a carat a peice for a total of two for both stones) as a gift in celebration of there new baby and was wondering what a fair price range would be for. He is wanting a round cut no worse than a F VS1 with an ideal cut (do you think this is overkill for earings?) and was wondering what to expect as far as price goes.

Thanks for your help in advance!

I would certainly urge him to look at a place such as WhiteFlash because of the higher quality of the stones. I agree that F VS1 is a little too much for earrings, but I''d suggest G VS2 instead. He''ll pay more for lower quality stones from a regular jeweler. I know because I bought first that way and then got new ones which were SO much better from WF!

Here is an excellent pair:

You can also drop to an SI1 or SI2 clarity grade and even an H or I colour to broaden the options more. Many diamonds in the SI clarities are eyeclean, especially with a great cut - likewise with colour, the above colour grades can look very white, unless the high colour and clarity grades are super important to your boss.

Ditto.

I have a pair from WF, one is G, one is H, one is VS2, one is SI1 (not by choice, but pickins were slim, I would have preferred both at least H, SI1).

One color difference between them is not discernable. My SI1 is also not only eyeclean, it''s loupe clean. (meaning I can''t even see the inclusions with a loupe)

Hi,
I just bought new earrings and they''re F SI1 and completely eye clean. I LOVE the crisp white color, so I''m thrilled to have been able to find them. I do agree that VS1 is overkill. It''s flat out a waste of diamond budget money. I''d opt to use the full amount of $ to get F SIs and a pendant to match the earrings rather than just VS1 earrings

Your bosses'' wife is a lucky gal. Be sure to post photos of the earrings you end up picking out.

My earrings are also F SI1 like MC''s. VS1 is way overkill, and wasted money for earrings IMO. Definitely go lower on clarity. As for color, he can certainly go lower, it just depends on personal preference. I love my Fs.

I agree that F VS1 is overkill for earrings. I would go down to eye clean VS2, SI1, or SI2. I would also drop the color a bit but that depends on personal preference and how much he''s willing to spend. I would definitely have him check out Whiteflash because of their high quality of the stones and upgrade policy.

H/SI1 is a great compromise between quality and price. WF has beautiful stones, I love the ones suggested here.
