I was thinking of the following 3 stone setting and had a question to ask of all of you. First, the center diamond is a clear 1.73, clear H color. Next, I wanted to know: 1) what size the side stones should be, primarily so they do not take away from the center diamonds spotlight, and 2)whether the side stones should be the same color and clarity of the center stone (thus allowing for all three diamonds to look the same) or having the side stones maintain a slightly better color and maybe clarity than the center diamond (thus making the ring look sharper, but knowing that this may take away from the center diamond). Please let me know what you guys think of both the setting and what should be done with the side stones. Also, I doubt I am going to have that 4th stone in my setting, that looks like an eye below the center stone. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The size of the side stones is a personal preference. Some like stones that are closer in size and some that let the center diamond stand out. This is a thread that discusses your question https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/3-stone-size-color-ratio.16766/. Also, you can look in "Show me your ring" forum for examples of 3 stone rings and how different size stones look in settings.

Oh please keep the surprise stones! (the fourth AND fifth stones in the setting). They are so lovely and give the ring a really finished appearance.

I LOVE that setting you chose BTW... I haven''t seen it before.

Just wanted to chime in--I think the surprise diamonds are completely dependent on personal preference. It sounds like you don''t like them--what would your future fiancee think? I personally don''t like the look of them, but many women do. Try to figure out her preferences to help make your decision about this detail.

Good luck--can''t wait to see the final product!
