I saw these earrings and they looked very beautiful. (Unless it is a real dog, they all look beautiful!!) But, here are my questions....

The are 1.51
6.63 x 6.54 x 4.48 mm
D: 68.5
T: 67
G: th to ex thick, F
P: VG
S: G
F: n

#2 is 1.52
6.55 x 6.44 x 4.62mm
D: 71.7
T: 63
G: th to th, F
P: VG
S: G
F: n

crown angles greater than 40 on both. Both are F vs2 and si1

Aside from the obvious differences in measurments. (and one did look abviously smaller) what size mm measurements , and what depth range/table ratio should I be looking for in the 1.5 ish range in a cushion (modern) These seemed visually small to me for the price and size........

Keeping in mind that I am looking to make earrings, I am flexible on color and clarity, as long as the cut equals beautiful....

Thank You

Eva, I know nothing about cushions, though cushion cut earrings seem very unique - dont think I''ve ever seen that before...I just really wanted to say I love your pup''s photo! So cute.

Hee! Welcome to my world! If you''re used to judging rounds -- asschers and CUSHIONS will seem visually small for the carat weight. Those dimensions look spot on for 1.5 ct stones, sorry to say. Perhaps you could get away with more shallow stones for earrings but they may be difficult to find. (there''s a cut chart around here somewhere that shows how teensy asschers & cushions of a size are compared to every other shape!)

Why cushion earrings? It will be hard to appreciate the shape once set on the ear, especially as studs? And the brilliance will not be as attention-getting as rounds.

If you''re looking for a gentle, antique-ish style -- why not look into Transitional cuts or Old European cuts?

I wasn''t going to say it but I''ll ditto your sentiments here.... You all know I love cushions, but it just seems such a waste on the ears. Cushions are wonderful to appreciate in 3D like on a finger, but up against the ears I''d go with something really brilliant, like a shallow round. If rounds have you down then I''d look at princess cuts. All of that said, nothing about your choice seems bad.... deeper cuts for cushions make them face up smaller but that''s what gives them such great stuff when seen on a finger. Cushions are my favorite cuts, but they''re not as versitile as others.... are these modern brilliants? If I were getting cushion earrings I would at least get modern cuts. Widget would likely disagree LOL

I love cushions but I''d go with RBs on earrings too. Personally, I think rounds look nicer on the lobe!

Thanks Surfgirl, that is Posie and she is actually 10 years old.

Sara, yes these are modern cut.

I already have rounds, so I was thinking something a bit off square that will dangle just below the ear. Princess is very sharp and square and I was thinking something a little softer. So it''s not quiet finger 3D, but a little ear 3D. (hanging with some movement)

Plus, these were just there and mighty pretty to look at. I was unhappy with the size ratio to the price.

I am also looking at cut cornered square brillints. This would probably be money better spent on the ears....

Honestly, unless the pictures are bad, they don''t look so amazing for modern cushions. Check out Moremoremore''s square cushion center stone for an idea of what a gorgeous modern cushion should look like in a square shape.

If you''re looking for modern, I would really really try to stick with Excellent polish and symmetry. It makes a BIG difference in the sparkle factor in the moderns...

I also try to stick with a 10% difference in depth and table, with depth in the mid 60''s and table in the mid 50''s.

But as much as I love cushions, I have to agree with the others about preferring rounds for earrings...

Hi Neatfreak, the picture is definately not a good one. Not a clear close up.

I don''t know enough about cushions, but in person, they had good fire, nice scint.

I was wondering, since they were already paired up as earrings, they might not be ring quality????

I''m sorry, I know nothing about cushion diamonds to say if these are good ones. I just wanted to make a design suggestion that cushion leverbacks or dangles made by leon would be amazing!!! Since you already have a pair of round studs, I''d get something a little different.

Hi Eva

I just had some earrings made for some old cushion cut diamonds. Much smaller than yours, they are 1.27 ct for the bottom two diamonds (combined). I like how they dangle below my ear. I thought they were OEC''s but the place that made them for me said they are "antique cushion cuts" and they specialize in antique jewelry, so I guess they know. I will try to post a pic for you.

Thanks Lucyloo, great earings. I bet the motion is great. Where it dangles is perfect.

I love the stone. Any close up shots of them????

Thanks, I am glad you like them. I love them more than I thought I would.

I will have to see what I can do tomorrow about stone close ups. I thought these pics of my ears were bad enough!

This pic was taken indoors so looks yellow, but you can see the culet.

Hi Eva,

They could very well be beautiful, but based on the numbers, they are pretty deep for modern cushions, and the good symmetry worries me a bit-- are you sure they are not traditional 4-main cushions? The only reason I say that is because you don''t see too many modern brilliants that are VG/G...

I think that the project sounds great, and I wish you lots of luck in your search!

Boston Jeff, the cert says cushion brilliant. in person the looked modern. but, who knows??

I am going to pass on these and keep looking.

Thanks for the responses!!!! Everyone..
