So the Manolos broke on Thursday, and now this morning, the ass rips out of my HUGO BOSS PANTS!!! This is freakin'' ridiculous!!!

The crazy thing is that the very same thing happened to these pants a few months ago. I sat down and RIP!!! I took them back, and the SA was a huge jerk, saying that maybe my pants were too tight!!! (okay, I am officially underweight on any chart you can locate, my doc has prohibited me from losing another pound, and these pants are the biggest in my freakin'' closet!). The manager finally chose to replace that pair, but after a lot of trouble. And now it has happened again!

Any ideas? I am not confident that the store will be very helpful, based upon the last experience.

Oh dear!!

I would take them back as maybe there is a design flaw. Hopefully you won''t get the same SA. Sorry for giggling but your thread title and content has amused me, but it isn''t really funny...hem...

You have a way with words!!

I am definately going to start with taking them back to the store. I just can see where it is headed (Me: See, I sat down, and they ripped. SA: Your ass must be too big. Me: WTF!!!!!)

I hope not!!!

I have worn some seriously tight disco type pants years ago and never had to suffer from such an unfortunate mishap, even with those!

I suddenly remembered this old thread, I hope your pants don't look like these...scroll down if you dare

I never forgot that thread, I suspect there are others who haven''t too!

I wasn''t even shaking my booty when this happened!

Lol! Obviously they aren''t well made. I''d return them and get something totally different.

Regarding the pants, I wouldn''t shop at that store again if they don''t stand behind the merchandise they sell. I''m sorry your shoe broke - that''s happened to me many a time. Manolos are beautiful, but they''re delicate and don''t hold up too well. Stuart Weitzman shoes hold up very well.

HI:

What a shame, as it would have made your present siutation more enviable......

. Can you tell if it was just a seam--thread loose--or was it from a hole? One is much more easily repaired. Good luck to you.

cheers--Sharon

I can''t remember the last time I shook my booty!!! The fabric actually ripped at the seam. The seam held together. This is exactly what happened last time. It is obviously crappy fabric!!!

No way! You haven''t had a good week what with your shoes and your pants!! They must have been shoddy quality!

I know - I am just hoping my wardrobe malfunctions do not happen in 3s.....

Unlike dealing with Holts, I bought my suit at a women''s wear store in town that I have had problems with concerning repairs in the past. It is obvious to everyone that there is a quality problem, but this store will not address the issue. I will let you know how it goes tonight....

That''s horrible, LitChick! I used to shop at Club Monaco all the time, and once bought two pairs of the same dress pants in different colors. Well, the first time I wore the white pair TWO of the belt loops popped off and the seam in the seat ripped right open. They were a bit big on me, so I figured I just got a shoddy pair.

So I took them back, the saleslady was so rude and refused to allow me to return them. They repaired them, I wore them again, and this time the seam ripped again and the hems at the bottom of both legs fell down. I took them to the store again, rude again, no return. THEN, I got around to wearing the second pair and the EXACT SAME THING happened. The people at Club Monaco were so rude about it, they refused to give me a regional manager''s contact information, and basically told me to deal with it. I never shopped there again. (It''s a shame, too, because I looked GREAT in their jeans.)

I cannot spend money in a store that doesn''t stand behind their product. No way.

I agree!!! If they don''t deal with this properly, I won''t shop at this store anymore. Holt Renfrew is another matter....

Litchick--i think you need to start buying cheaper clothing

Most of my wardrobe is ''wannabe expensive looking'' and i''ve yet to have a wardrobe malfunction. You''ve had 2 in the past week!

Hey if they won''t take them back, start using confusing legal rhetoric and talk about something like merchantability.
31.gif

sorry for your malfunction - sooo not what you need!

If you don''t get any joy out of the store manager, you could try writing directly to Hugo Boss. I had to do that, for a not dissimilar reason (pants split at the seams round the crotch, leaving me with two pants legs flapping from a waistband, more or less.) Ok, try to forget that image. I can''t look back on it and laugh. It''s taken me a year or so to look back and smile through slightly gritted teeth...

Granted, I do have a more generously sized ass, but the pants were bought in a size to accommodate that!

Good luck

Jen

I went to the store last night, and the SA was actually nice this time. She gave me the manager''s card, and the manager will be calling me today. We will see how this goes.

I am happy to report that today, all my clothes are intact, my shoes are not broken (in fact, there is a new little Louboutin hanging out in my closet!!)..... fingers crossed!!!

As expected, this store was not entirely great about this situation. They basically blamed me (I need "sturdy suits", since I must be too hard on them if they keep ripping - my response, no this one piece of crap keeps ripping when I SIT!!!). They gave me a $250 in store credit - my suit cost a wee bit more than that.

Whatever. I will burn up my credit and never shop there again.

I''ve only had that happen once... on the day I had on a g-string... and was out to lunch with my old Torts professor....

Litigator....

Hmmm.....

From a guys perspective... I have found that it pays to determine what brands are rugged enough for routine wear, which ones stretch in the right places, etc . Yes, guys can have problems too (and I have my memories of a certain men''s store who''s pants always ripped out too).

It is of course more difficult when you are expected to be in dress clothing most of the time.

Best of luck here...

Perry

This store and this issue just was not worth my time. I''ll take my credit, pick up a shirt, and be done with them!!!

That''s really ridiculous that they gave you a hard time! If it is an independent boutique, they have the ability to get a Return Authorization (RA) and a credit from the original company.

I''m a buyer at a clothing store and we take returns pretty often for defective merchandise. (Especially expensive denim.) There are a few people who obviously just bought their pants too tight/fell and ripped the knee, but the manager pretty much always take those back, too. Good customer service is more important than a $150 pair of pants!

My husband''s dress shirts are all Brooks Brothers No Iron, and about 20-25% of them have developed a hole in the elbow area on one sleeve. I have no idea what my husband does to produce this phenomenon, but luckily they always take them back and give him a new one.

If the sales assistant is such an idiot, I''d speak to her manager and calmly explain that while you know that sometimes there''s just a design flaw and you don''t hold it against them or Hugo Boss, you''ll brook no accusations or insults when trying to return faulty merchandise, and that you''re very sorry that this store has such poor customer service because you enjoyed being a loyal customer. Hopefully that SA will get a talking to!

I spoke to the manager, who was the insulting one. It is an independent boutique, and obviously they don''t get customer service!

HI:

Here here. I recently returned a top that was shredded and altho the independent boutique has a exchange only policy they would have made a return for me. It was an obvious manufacturer defect and they said the same thing you did, that it would be returned for a "credit". And this was for a $75 top, not a $300 pair of Boss slacks. This store LC dealt with missed the mark--if it were me, I would never shop there again.

Well, I guess a bit perspective helps at a time like this!!! It is minor stuff in the scheme of life, aggravating and annoying but not worth raising your blood pressure up about. Tell yourself your son is healthy and you have a busy career...It is all resolvable. You might need to be firm and unwavering, but the customer should always be right, the first rule in retail!

I would: return them and not buy that style again as maybe there is a flaw inherent in the design.

I would: get a Personal Shopper who is going to be on your side for the next "crisis". I went to the personal shopping club in each store I shop at (Neimans, Saks, Bergdorfs, Barney''s, Nordstrom) to hook up with a specific SA, I did the same in the small boutiques around me. That is who I deal with, period. If something happens, they go to bat for me. I ordered a Monique Llhulier gown for my son''s bar mitzvah a couple of years ago and the size 6 came in cut like 0 or 2. No one argued about it, they knew it was ML''s error and that it needed to be dealt with immediately. I had one month til the party, and this dress was thousands of dollars. My SA called and spoke to Monique herself and got my new dress, cut perfectly, in two weeks. Had I just walked in and bought from anyone, this would not likely have been resolved well. But since I spend a lot in each store and am loyal to one SA for the most part, they have the motivation to go the extra mile, without attitude or argument.) they also locate stuff at other stores for me if I want something, because they are about customer service above all else.

Last, if all else failed, I would: figure if the worst thing that happens is I am out a pair of pants, I can count myself lucky...and make sure not to buy from that person again.

The manager said that Hugo Boss won''t give them a credit - they say there is no design flaw, just my ginormous butt!

I am gone with that store - I am burning up my credit today and never shopping there again.

Canuk - does Holts have personal shoppers? Have you used them? I am so lazy when it comes to clothes (other than shoes
31.gif
), and it would be nice to have someone contact me when something good comes out.
