HI - Long time lurker :) I have been searching for a natural old mine cut cushion diamond. Below are some of the key specs I’m seeking. It has been very challenging to source a diamond particularly within this color range.

I recently came across a diamond that fits almost all of what I am searching for - My only concern is the color grade J and if the near colorless will be too yellow/a concern/ if it will face up white.

GIA 2516147532
Here is a video as well https://streamable.com/38k7u1

I am new to the diamond shopping game and any help from some of you experts would be amazing!

What I have been looking for..
  • Cut: Old Mine Cushion
  • Carat weight: ~2.8–3.5 ct
  • Color: H or better, though I’m open to a high I that faces up white
  • Clarity: VS2 or better (eye-clean is fine)
  • Certification: GIA
  • Shape: Elongated ratio (ideally 1.2–1.35 L/W)
  • Polish/Symmetry: Excellent
  • Other: Strong light performance with broad flashes, no significant windowing

Your diamond is a modern cut diamond, not antique as far as it looks to me. J will almost definitely look Warmer. Even G appears warm to my eyes so maybe your tolerance is higher. It’s pretty, so you could order it and see what you think. Good Return policy necessary.

You might want to check out the company Distinctive Gem. Distinctive Gem cuts superior light return Modern cut Antique styles. You might also want to consider a whiter lab diamond in an excellent modern antique cut.

A natural diamond in G or higher in that carat weight in an old cut style will be impossible to find in a true antique and very rare in a modern cut antique style so you might have to go to a custom cut.

Do you want a true antique old mine cut or a modern cut but antique style (the stone you linked is definitely not a true antique).

Also most importantly what is your budget?

When it comes to diamond shopping, especially for a specific and rare type like the old mine cut, patience and expert guidance are key. The process can feel like navigating a challenging level in a game, with each step bringing you closer to finding that perfect gem that meets your criteria and captivates your eye.

If the diamond in question meets most of your desired specs and visually pleases you in the video (https://streamable.com/38k7u1), it might be worth further consideration. If possible, compare it directly to an I or H color diamond in person to gauge how your eye perceives the color difference and whether it meets your expectations for face-up whiteness.

Hi OP. This is a very generous budget. Go slowly, I suggest you ask for more ideas on how to source antique style modern stones. You also need to figure out what you love, and see them in person. This process could take a while if you don’t jump at the first options you are shown. Get good advice, learn and select carefully.
