I just read the thread on to recut or not recut the old mine cut. I love old cuts and open culets. My question is "ARE NEWLY CUT DIAMONDS APPEARING WITH OPEN CULETS ?" I was walking down Michigan Ave and saw in Cartier a beautiful pair of earrings. Tops were rose cuts with suspended pears with open culets. I had a hunch that the pears might be newly cut. Meant to go in and ask them before I left Chicago, but ran out of time.
