I hope the marquise experts will comment on this old cut marquise. I had an OEC, so I am familiar with the proportion characteristics (ie, I prefer a small table and certain depth) but I have no idea how certain stats on this cut will affect it. The color was chosen intentionally in case you were wondering - my husband knows I love end of alphabet/yellow. Looks like it has some carbon spots which won't bother me if I can't see them other than 2 inches from my face. Would love to hear what the marquise experts think. Thanks!

Here are the stats:

3.15 carat SI1 Y-Z color

by no means am I a marquise expert, but I love diamonds! I like this stone very much.. it's lovely!!!

It is bright through the middle and a very cool looking old stone (love the cut). It is shallow. I wonder if the facets just outside
of the middle are leaking light? You have not seen it in person right? I wonder if there is anyway to get a video?

I really love the cut and color. Is it returnable it you're not happy with the light return? I'm voting "get it" (if returnable) and
play with it. Sure hope it ends up being a nice stone. I could suffer with some light loss with everything else it has going for it
but I couldnt suffer with a dull stone.

Good luck...it looks gorgeous to me.

Thank you for the kind words! Nice to hear you like the cut. I love the color, how it looks yellow or green depending on the light. The size is nice too ha-ha! I have seen a video and it looks really nice, even though it does have some carbon spots but I can love with them. I have been through drama loosing my old stone and my dear husband surprised me with this, bless him! The sentiment, above all else is most important but it is nice to hear from other diamond lovers!

Well then, it's a definite keeper! How are you going to set it?

I think I am going to set it down in a yellow cup with delicate prongs, a plain yellow gold thin rounded border, maybe with milgraine and thin band. It's a large enough stone that I don't think it actually needs any side stones or melee on the band, don't you think? Maybe a solitaire setting although I do not favor prongs on the tip of Marquise and I worry about having it protected. Setting it down in a cup seems like the safest thing to do? What do you suggest? I for sure am doing yellow gold and love dainty prongs.
