Weird. It won''t let me post any pics. Anyway, I feel like I''m totally slacking on my whos who thread with you and LP around telling all these wonderful stories....I need to get on it.

It wouldn''t let me post pics earlier today, either. Maybe it''s a temporary bug?

I hope so. I have plenty of goofy pics of myself that I bet you guys would just love to laugh at me for.

your turtles!!!!!

Lol Sarah! They are kind of cool, just a pain in the bum sometimes. They''re always trying to climb out of their tank and they screw up their filtration system doing that. Not to mention they make a LOT of dang noise banging their shells around. They really should have a pond of their own, but that isn''t going to happen for a while.

Here Gwen-these are the only pics I have of myself with natural-ish wavy hair. I say natural-ish because I usually have to tame some part of it with a curling iron because it frizzes out so easily. Disregard the goofy expressions on my face. the ones on the right are the better representations. And you can tell that my hair was crazy dark red in these...Oh! And the one in the green tube top was not long after my surgery-maybe a year or so, and theladies were still super perky.

And this is probably the most common look on my face....

However unflattering it might be...

Here''s another goofy one...this would be LK and myself.

Note: I was NOT drunk in this picture, but still do not have any recollection of what I was doing...

Oh, and I just realized that you can kind of see my tongue piercing in this pic (it was a clear ball, so you have to look really hard).

You are so cute, haha!

And thank you for posting the turtle pic! I was so missing turtles. The building my internship was in had a pond behind it and there were like 8 turtles in it. So I would watch them during my lunch hour and when I needed to walk around and wake up a bit. Soooo cute! Made me want a turtle. Hehe. Do you really plan on trying to find them a pond or build them a pond one day? That would be cool!

We thought about trying to rig up a pond type thing on our patio, but BF decided it would be too much work considering they could only use it from about April-Oct. The other day we were at the grocery store, and they were selling those plastic baby pools for 10 dollars and I suggested we get one of those for them, but then we looked closer and they would be able to get out really easily because they are taller than the sides of the pool. I think it would be pretty cool though.

If I could, I would buy a house, have a pond in the backyard and let them do whatever they wanted all day, everyday, but that isn''t feasible for the next 2-3 years or so when D graduates and has to get a job out of state. So until then....maybe I''ll go get them a baby pool. (Although I''d make D move them into it because they''re kind of ferocious.)

That is so cool about you watching the turtles during lunch. They are fascinating creatures. I wish we had turtles at my school-we have a large pond that has an island in the middle of it-and there are usually about 50 ducks hanging out around it. It''s nice to go sit outside and watch them doing duck type things during the day. So I''d want to do a mini version for the turtles.

Here are some pics of the duck pond at my school. The bottom one I added because it''s just a beautiful shot I found and the clock is actually in the background of the second pic. Lookie all the duckies!

Adding the pic would be good.

Oooh, I know you look great as a blonde but I love the dark red too! That black & white photo of you in the upper right is also just adorable--you''ve got a fabulous smile when you full-on flash it! And your hair looks lovely as well. I think if mine ever did a wave thing, it *might* look like I have more of it, so of course it won''t oblige. The expression you say you wear most of the time is cute too, albeit a bit more mischievous.

The pond at your school is lovely, too! And the clouds behind the clock in that last pic are crazy-cool. Love them!

If you could have any type of animal for a pet, what would it be?

Oh I want a puppy so bad!!!!!Seriously. We''ve talked about it at such lengths to decide on breeds and gender (male Siberian Husky and a female Rottweiler-so that the size difference isn''t as big) but we live in a condo thats got a patio around 10x6 or so. I would feel awful about not being able to just let them out and run free! I have also begged for a smaller puppy, but the same reasons still apply, so I''m SOL. When we get a house...It''s got to have a decent size yard for running and a tall fence/wall so they can''t jump over it. And even though we''d like to get those two breeds, I think that we''d probably go to the pound and get whatever there was. Having said that, luckily SHs and Rotts are two breeds with very specific needs, breed traits and personality traits that don''t lend well to the average dog owner, so who knows? We could go to the pound and find our two dream puppies anyway!

So I want a dog (or two-or more, really) but I also want a Chinchilla. I think they are so cool!!!I''ve done a lot of reading about them and they just sound like fascinating creatures. So that is also on my list.

And I would love love love to have a horse or two. But seeing as how we''ll probably live in the middle of a city (with D being a professor/working for the government and all and not wanting to commute far) I''m probably SOL with that one.

And I love my goofy little hamsters. I love Munchie (Campbell''s dwarf hamster) but she''s pretty boring-just sleeps, eats and runs on her wheel after we''ve gone to bed. But my other two, Ghengis and Kahn (Roborovski dwarf hamsters) are SO MUCH FUN! They play during the day, they sleep where ever they happen to pass out, when we walk by, they follow us around in their cage, and are generally very entertaining. So I''m glad that their lifespan is 2-3 years and I hope they stick around for the length of it. Although it was a long arduous process to get them to trust me, but now that they do, it was so worth it. And most of the pics I have of them are when they''re sleeping because when they''re awake they''re in constant motion so it''s really hard to catch them and have them not come out blurry.

I mean, how can you not love these guys?

Awww, those little guys are adorable! That face it too cute!!!!! A girl in my dorm freshman year of college had a chinchilla named Persephone and she was really adorable and soooo soft (not that this is a surprise but still). She apparently wasn''t the nicest little critter but she was nice enough to her momma. J and I talked about maybe getting one of those too, but I think we''ve settled on a hedgehog or a cat.

OMG!!!! I am SO drooling over your precious wee hammies, I love them!!! Oh the tiny paws and feeties....

Gawd women, you have the most gorgeous eyes!!

I love your hair au natural too!! It has that natural wavey thing going on. The flat irons can fry the crap out of hair, so I have had to put mine on hold.

Those little hammies are sooooooo cute. I am not an animal person, but I just love looking at them. I love petting them and all that, but they are too high maintenence to clean up after. I''m not a fan of poop.

Ok, so I have a feeling you will have a million answers to this question (maybe not, but I''m thinkin'' jah) like I do: when you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

ETA: And, if you''re still in that mentality (like I am), what are all the things you STILL want to be when you grow up?

Ok. Um. When I was little I wanted to be an interior decorator. This mostly stems from when my mom got one to decorate our family room and I was amazed at the transformation.
I also wanted to be a chef-I''ve always loved food-this didn''t go away until I went to culinary school-when I figured out that I wanted to be a pastry chef instead.
I also considered...plastic surgeon, hair stylist, marriage therapist (part of the reason I''m getting my BA in Psych), wedding planner, shoe designer. Um. Divorce lawyer like my dad. I think that''s about it. I was never a "I wanna be a princess or ballerina." type girl.

Now, I want to be a wedding cake designer/decorator (I actually HATE to bake cakes-very monotonous work-Love to make recipes and do research and development though), wedding planner, jewelry designer, shoe designer, personal shopper, or own my own bakery. No more therapy or law. Heck, I''ve thought about going back to school for interior design or some kind of art stuff once we move for D''s future job.

I''ve always loved jewelry (I talked my mom into letting me get my ears pierced at 4-I learned those mad negotiating skillz from my dad), and shoes (I loves this pair of shoes so much when I was about 6 that I had my mom buy them for me-even though they were a size too small-I wore them the next day to a wedding-and my feet were covered in blisters-but my feet looked fabulous!) so who knows....but being that the design business is so incredibly hard to get into, I''d probably do one of a kind jewelry pieces because I can''t imagine trying to get into shoe design at my old age.
2.gif

And I''ve also thought about writing my own cookbook...

You can be my therapist. Hell, you already are!!
25.gif

Oh, you should TOTALLY write your own cookbook! I will place my order right now for one if you do.
9.gif

Very cool list of jobs. It''s clear from your posts that you have rather diverse interests, so I figured that would show up in the different sorts of jobs that had interested you. Thank you for sharing!
1.gif

Lorelei I don''t know how I missed your posts! They are cuties aren''t they? But they are pretty feisty and super hyper most of the time, but how I love to watch them when they''re sleepy or sleeping and turn into cuddly little balls! I''m going to have to look up Pandora''s hedgehogs now!

Lol miraclesThanks for the compliments on my eyes! I love my hammies, but they poo an awful lot-but because they''re so little (2-3 inches long) they''re poo isn''t very big either. You''d probably be fascinated by them-they are hilarious when they''re awake-that is, unless they''re fighting, in which case I''m yelling at them. But they are very rough and tumble and jump around a lot, not to mention burrowing. Seriously, watching them is better than most tv shows!
You''ve reminded me that I need to think about getting a haircut with your talk of fried hair-I''m still getting rid of last April''s hair disaster remnants and the ends are fried without the straight iron. I''ve just been throwing my hair up after it''s mostly dried and not thinking about it.
And I''ll be your therapist (and graphic artist wannabe) any day of the week.

Gwen I''ll send you an autographed copy! Oh, I hope that one day I can do it! I think that there is an underlying current of creativity in most of the jobs I''m interested in. I just want to do something that I love, you know?

SDL Awwww, you''re such a sweetie!!! Your comment made me blush!! Thank you!!!

Here''s a pic of an awake hammie. It''s hard to capture them when they''re sitting still...I just barely managed to catch him like this. And he had just stuffed his cheeks as full as they get, I swear he''s not that fat!!! When they stuff their cheeks they almost look like furry squares from the top.

I just discovered the "Who''s Who" thing on PS!
6.gif
Yay, for a Freke thread! I''ve always wanted to know more about you! You are the kind of person everyone should have as a friend

Last year on my research trip to NM, we had to go to Holbrook for two days! It was on the I-40 between the Holiday Inn and Dennys. We stayed at the Best Western, Arizona Inn. Here is a map of where we were.
link
Anywhere close to where you got pulled over?
3.gif

My experience with cops in NM was the same as the one you had in AZ. We drove from Ft. Sumner to Clovis all the time, and the speed limit changes dramatically in 100 feet. Our professor got a ticket for that
3.gif

In 2004 my friend (guy) and I was pulled over by a cop, exactly like you were!
9.gif
He grilled us the same way too. I don''t blame him. It was 2AM at the botanical garden (famous for "after hours activities")

It''s still 5PM but all your cooking posts make me hungry...

Here is a question for you. I have a box of Cheddar Goldfish crackers that I wouldn''t eat, but would love to incorporate with chicken. Any ideas? Or is this too ghetto? (My friends and family barf at the ideas I come with)

Oh, and FI made me watch "13 going on 30", and I recently saw 27 dresses (without FI). I love Judy Greer! I can totally see why you like her.

Keep the pictures coming!

Freke honey, I *KNOW* you can do it (write your own cookbook). I think at some point you are going to be overflowing with creativity and it will just happen naturally. Do you write down all the recipes you create normally, or do you just keep them in your head for future reference? I can honestly and truly see you doing that, and I would be so proud to buy your cookbook, try all your recipes, and then make all my friends and family buy a copy too.
2.gif

Oh your hamsters are so gorgeous. I love the sleeping pics!

I''m stil waiting for that most humiliating picture. I can''t believe you are going to let me win that easily...what a wuss.

How about some Freke facts about you that are not well known??

Apparently I forgot about my Who''s Who thread. And I forgot to take pics of bad pics when I was at my parent''s house the other day. Sorry Miracles. Next time. You can''t beat me!!!

And I''m grumpy.

Um. Little known Freke facts:

I eat red meet rare. I''d eat chicken rare too, but the US''s treatment of livestock is abominable.
My favorite food is sushi.
I HATE raw broccoli.
I''ve eaten raw ants.
I''ll eat anything on a dare.
I''ll eat anything, anyway.
One of my life goals is to visit all seven continents, and all 50 states.
I only eat kosher or sea salt.
I have OCD tendencies.
I have hypothyroidism.
I have serious ADHD.
I have insomniac tendencies.
My favorite color is blue. Then green and purple.
I don''t wear yellow gold.
I get drunk/tipsy really easily off of wine.
I only really drink wine, dirty grey goose martinis, crown and coke, coconut margaritas, and long island iced teas.
I belt out songs on Rockband.
I''m terrified of moths.
I started playing tennis at 2 (my mom wanted me to be a pro apparently) and I didn''t stop until around 18.
I''m allergic to kitties.
I''ve also done the following sports: volleyball, swimming, basketball, horseback riding (english)
I don''t think golf counts as a sport.
The skin on the bottom of my right foot is abnormally thick and disgusting. (I just discovered the Ped Egg. Everyone should have one)
I''m a food snob when I eat out, but I have no problems eating homemade food. Which is funny to me because when people find out about my food knowledge, they freak out and apologize for their bad cooking-even when it''s not bad at all!
I wear bright green Crocs almost every day. The days I''m not, it''s too hot and I''m wearing Crocs flip flops, giant snow boots, or fuzzy stuff on the inside Crocs.
I want to live in NYC.
I make D kill all of the bugs in our condo.
I sleep with a fuzzy blue blanket, and D sleeps with a green quilt type blanket.
I hate putting the dishes away.
Culinary school made me OCD, and gave me a motto to live by: "A dirty station is a dirty mind."-meaning: keep your shiz clean!
I love Anthony Bourdain.
I also love Matt Damon and Orlando Bloom-but don''t tell D about the last one.
I like to be inappropriate and shock people.
But I can''t shock D.
I''m brutally honest to those that are close to me. Like I''ll bust out with "You''re girlfriend is a F-ing WH*RE and I think you need to dump her yesterday. Lets go have guacamole and chips!" And then months later when he broke up with her: "Well I told you she was a wh*re, you didn''t listen to me and she f-ed you over, so I''m not surprised. Should have listened to me the first time and saved yourself some heartbreak."
We only have 2 pictures of people in our condo-one of me (that is supposed to be in D''s office) and one of the two of us. Other than that, it''s pics of Hawaii, or abstract collages I''ve made.
And two drawings I did. One is a nude woman and the other is a abstract of yellow pears w/ black and white striped cloth, and a clay hand with a white tablecloth.
I own a signed print from Luis Jimenez.
I received a somewhat full set of pink depression glass in the "Sharon" cabbage rose pattern. Most of it was a 16th birthday present from my mom. I cried, because I didn''t want it. Here is what it looks like. I haven''t seen it in about 8 years.
I HATE HATE HATE southwestern decorating. And southwestern jewelry.
I have the opinion that there is New Mexican food, Mexican food, and Tex-Mex. They are very very distinctly different.
I do not know how to play video games. I''m a certified button masher.
My Christmas tree is covered in blue, silver and white. Only snow men and snowflakes.
I''m not religious and certain people call me the anti-christ.
I drive faster when I listen to techno.
I think that half of the people out there shouldn''t be allowed to drive.
I have a pillow obsession. I''m looking at my pile of "living room" pillows-3 various shades of teal, one silver, one bright blue and one thats black with silver stuff on it. I don''t know how many are in the closet that are "bedroom pillows". All of these pillows are decorative throw pillows.
I don''t drink caffeine, or carbonation 99% of the time.
I love Red Bull. Yum.
I hate the woman that lives above us. She sounds like she weighs about 400 pounds (even though she doesn''t) and bangs my car with her car door.

I think thats enough for now.

Here is a pic of me in the dark with nakey lady behind me on the wall to the right...I don''t think I''ve posted any pics on here of me in my glasses...I''ll have to change that...
