everything

so start typing.

Lets see, I left the CIA on September 10, 2004. I left for lots of reasons, one being that I was feeling immensely guilty about how much $$$ my parents were spending for me not opening any books-but me still getting a 3.8 GPA. That is a testament to how great my community college''s culinary program was. So I withdrew and came home. And sat on my @$$. Until December. When I decided that I was tired of sitting on my @$$ I applied for some jobs that I was ridiculously overqualified for, at 3am one night. At 9 am the next day they called me to come in to Cold Stone Creamery (see what I mean about over qualified?) to get an interview. Needless to say I was hired. I was then promoted and then demoted after 3 weeks. Great chance to prove myself right? Anyway, the next few month was a blur of being sexually harassed by my boss and working by myself all day. Who was married. And had 5 kids. About a year after I quit, he contacted me to tell me he was getting a divorce. No comment.

I left there to work for my dad because his office manager called me to be their receptionist again. At this point I was making wedding cakes for friends and actually taught a couple of baking classes-totally blew the first one. Oh well. While I was working there I got pretty depressed and began my flirtation with insomnia. I was going to sleep at 3am at the earliest and waking up at 6am for work.

I also reconnected with my dearest friend L.K. He is a guy with a girl''s name. I''d known him since...I was 15 and at this point I was about 22. I also ended an important friendship with my best friend since I was 15.

It would probably be best to describe a few things about me here. I don''t smoke or do any kind of drugs-I never have and I never will-this was a huge thing that LK and I had in common. I also don''t really drink. I used to a bit-maybe once or twice a month, but because Dale (BF/FF) can''t drink, I just don''t. Unless I''m in Vegas. I cuss like a sailor unless I''m around my parents or people that Dale works with, but I have some semi-strict moral standards. Which is funny because I''m NOT politically correct and I am brutally honest when I''m not on PS. I don''t think I''ve ever been offended by anything anyone has said unless it was a personal insult.

Those moral standards are what separated my ex BFF and I. But that''s not interesting for you guys. Um. I worked at my dad''s office until about September 2005, when I decided to go back to school. From there I got involved in a really bad relationship that was really really REALLY stupid on my part. I was still making wedding cakes-perhaps I''ll take some pics of the ones I don''t have digi pics of.

When I started school I also opened a brothel. I was going back to my lovely community college that gave me my associate''s degree in culinary. My parents have always wanted me to just get a bachelor''s degree-so I decided it would be a great time to oblige them since I wasn''t really doing anything else and was actually making LESS money working at my dad''s office than at Cold Stone. But the major perk there was that I could wear heels at my dad''s office. Anyway! I started school in January 2006 and then moved out in February 2006. My mom and I don''t get along when we live under the same roof. So at one point my dad had had enough and told me to go find an apartment and that he''d pay for it. Like I''m not going to jump on that! So I moved out, went through some growing pains, and then in March I asked Dale to be my friend on a fake-ish myspace page (at one point I had about 4 total-don''t ask-well you can but I don''t really know why) and we clicked instantly. He dumped his longtime girlfriend and then we met in person. I should explain that it was completely platonic until after we had met in person-and we didn''t meet in person until he was well over his prior relationship-which really wasn''t that long, but...well that''s another story. By the way, the brothel thing was just to make sure you''re still awake.

So I kept going to the CC and then I had been talking about moving in with a friend so that I could save my parents some money. Well, it turns out that my parents had bought me a condo as a surprise. My mom had recently been re-diagnosed with breast cancer and she wanted to make sure that no matter what I''d have somewhere to live, because apparently she doesn''t trust my dad with stuff like that. It was built in the ''70s and hadn''t been renovated since then. EVERYTHING was original. Maybe I''ll post a pic of my favorite light fixture. So my mom totally renovated it but it wasn''t going to be ready until October and I was to start school in August-and it was about 30 minutes away from school. My CC has 4 campuses around town-one was close to my apartment and the other one was near my condo-which is also about 2 miles away from the condo. And from the apartment Dale was living in.

I can be really long winded too.

He had his open heart surgery July 17th 2006, and I basically moved in with him to take care of him. He moved into the condo with me December 31, 2006, and that has been nothing but fantastic since then.

School/work wise I worked at a local shoe store for summer 2007, and accumulated about 20-30 pairs of shoes with my discount. That reawakened my shoe fetish. Now I have 108 or so pairs of shoes. I was going to go to summer school last summer but ended up dropping out because it was only one class and I wanted two of the people in my class to, um...go away on a permanent basis. In Fall of 2007 I started going to school at our University, and have been ever since.

Perhaps I should just post some pics...

And Miracles, I think that you''d be VERY interested in some of the shoes I own. They are of the type that you''d see in a gentleman''s club.
27.gif

Here''s a pic of that 70s gem.

70s light fixture badarseness.jpg

You forgot the blue car!!!

Isn''t sexual harrassment a big turn off? It amazes me that married men think they are so hot that the young girls who are otherwise looking for a good role model would think it''s cool that they turn out to be nothing more than schmucks.

I like the story of your BF/FF....I am always interested in how a couple met.

I love the reto light fixture. That would be worth some serious $$$ right now.

Um, why do you think I would like the gentleman club shoes?? I do think it''s cool that they make those huge platforms that someone could stash their tips in....
22.gif
Personally, I would only dance around like that for my lover, but it''s fun to play dress up....

I have a bit of a makeup fetish. I really like to do my makeup with all of my crazy colors and then take pics. Of course, my eyes are usually center stage. Here''s some green and blue eye makeup, and you can''t really see it, but my hair is dark brown with a strong hint of red. My friend E has made it a point to tell me that I am getting too old to wear the crazy stuff (don''t tell her, but I''m still going to wear it!).

I like artsy stuff. For a long time I thought I''d major in Fine Arts, but because of the foreign language requirement I decided that was a bad idea. So I went with my second love, Psychology. But I still love artsy stuff. I''ll probably go back to it in some way someday.

cooleyes.jpg

Do you want the story of my car? Or a more in depth of BF and I?

My mom THREW OUT the retro light fixture!!!I was pretty devastated for a couple of days. I LOVED that thing. I had no idea what I would have done with it, but I wanted to keep it. I don''t hold it against her though.

As for the shoes...they aren''t the kind that you can put tips in-those are a little bit too tall for me. Mine are lucite, 6 inches with a 2 inch platform. And wannabe rhinestones.
31.gif
And I don''t wear them out.
31.gif
And I think you''d probably like them just because it proves that I might not be so against the whole pole thing...

That''s an awesome photo of your eyes!! My artist niece would be loving that right now. She is a digital deviation artist and she thrives on those types of photos. I am a bit of a makeup junkie too. I have a gazillions blushes, brushes and lipsticks. I don''t get as daring with eyes anymore. I''m too lazy to take the time to apply it for work.

I want to hear more about your relationship. Cars are cool, but the boys who drive them are even better.
31.gif

And of course that pic with the eyes was altered to make it look cooler-but not as much as you''d think...I should have added another pic onto that last post. I went into my archives for some more interesting ones. I really should post a more recent photo of me.

Eh, here''s one for Harriet. This was one of the only pics I took on my camera phone from CIA. I had a TON that I''d taken with my old digital camera but my old hard drive died and nothing could be recovered. Which sucks, because I had amazing pics of NYC on there too.

This was in one of the kitchens in the basement of Roth Hall-Chef K.s class. It was the only savory food class we had to take in the Baking program, and probably my favorite-I''m not sure why. I think it''s just that I loved the chef so much. He wasn''t just your normal chef-passionate about it, but it was his day job kind of thing. He LIVED and breathed food. It was his life. Between him and my art teacher there-they would have a hard time making me pick a favorite between them. Anyway, this pic has Chef K in the middle kind of-he''s second from the right-all tall and stuff. You can kind see the handles of our pans in the forefront of the picture. I don''t remember what we were making that day. I really miss CIA sometimes. I''ve thought about going back if Dale ends up getting a job somewhere around there. *sigh*

Ok ok. Dale. Um. I invited him to be my friend on myspace because he had a cool pic up and I''m a little bit of a wannabe amateur photog. Maybe I''ll post the pic. So we started exchanging public comments on myspace, and his GF got POed. They were totally innocent too. Just the random getting to know you things. But they were super long (for myspace at least-like 1000 characters), so when she started a fight, we switched to private messages to keep the peace. Well, she was actually the physically violent type, so she ended up picking a fight with him one night-still over it, even though we weren''t doing anything wrong-or in public. I think we IMed before that point, but not much. Just talked about our days and other random stuff.

The next day after their fight I received a strange message that was his breakup letter to her. He had hand written it to her, and then typed it up for me to read. He had confided in me all of the problems in their relationship and how he felt the relationship had been over for a year or so, but because his mother had been sick (she passed away in November 2005) and his ex spent time with her every day he didn''t want to put that kind of stress on his mom when she was so frail. I should mention that Dale and his ex lived together-above his parent''s apartment, because his dad was the manager of the apartment complex. So she moved out of the apartment by the time he got home that night. I had sent him a message with my phone # and telling him that if he needed anything that he could call me if he wanted. He didn''t.

So we IMed and he kind of dared me to call him-so I did. And he DIDN''T ANSWER. So then he called me back about 2 minutes later. I guess he''d been taking out his contacts and wasn''t really expecting me to call him. And that was pretty much it. We talked that night until 4am, when we both had school that next day. That weekend we talked from 10pm until the sun came up the next day. And it was like that everyday. Finally we decided to meet in person, and I invited him to my apartment when my friend was over. He still didn''t know how old I was and later he told me that he thought I was 19-when I was actually 23. My friend and I were watching "Team America: World Police" and laughing hysterically-the whole time he was there. I don''t know why he stayed or much less why he came back again when another friend was over. Between that, talking and texting everyday, I felt pretty comfortable with having him over by myself. And that''s when we had our first kiss. Lol. I feel like I''m 13.

For a while though he didn''t want us to be "together" because he''d just gotten out of his relationship and I''d just gotten out of that really nasty relationship. So we went on *non-dates* and told me almost everyday that he wasn''t ready to be serious but he didn''t want to stop seeing me. I wasn''t really ready either and was ok with that. Then all of a sudden one day he asked me to be his girlfriend
23.gif
, after telling me the day before that he wanted to stay *single*. So I said no.
14.gif
Because I was SHOCKED!!! So then I told him that I''d have to think about it for a while and that he should ask again in a few days.

Well. May 5th 2006 we drove to Vegas. As we were driving onto The Strip after driving for 8 hours together (and me telling him the most ridiculous stories) he asked me again, and I said yes, and that became our first real date. Lol. It all sounds ridiculous now. So for the rest of our first date, he took me to a TOOL concert, then the next day we went walking around for hours, and then go to the Venetian and he surprised me with Blue Man Group tickets and we went to Wolfgang Puck''s Postrio in the hour we had before the show started. He told me a while afterwards that he was trying to woo me with the Blue Man Group tickets. Too bad for him I was already wooed. Lol.

I dunno, we''re pretty boring. We sit on the couch a lot and play video games or spend our time on our laptops. He loves Marvel stuff like Spiderman and he LOVES Stats, while I love reality TV and analyzing people, so we don''t have a lot in common like that, but we''re both very happy to be accommodating to the other''s pastimes. We share a lot of goals and ideas for all of the long term stuff. We''ve never fought. We''ve had 2 disagreements-they were silly looking back on them now-one was because I saw the receipt of one of the Christmas presents he''d bought me. Not like it was on purpose. So that was silly, and the other one I don''t even remember. Really though, we get along great, and can still talk for hours. We compliment each other well.

My parents love him and because of my mom''s health she''s been putting a bit of pressure on me to get engaged. He knows about it, and it''s all totally in the cards, but it doesn''t make sense to either of us to try to get married before at least one of us graduates. My dad and Dale can talk for hours about prisons, crime rates and statistics. It''s lovely that they can talk, but it''s pretty predictable for me to listen to. And Dale is the first BF that my dad has ever gone to a movie with-in fact it''s been more than one.

And he totally indulges in my shoe fetish...I should make a collage of all of the shoes he''s bought me and post it here. He''s pretty fantastic, IMHO.

Ok. Here''s the pic that started it all!!! This was one of his turtles when he was a baby at about 2 weeks old and the size of a silver dollar. They are a foot long now and SCARY but goofy. They don''t understand that they don''t get to come out of their tank. Lol. Maybe I''ll hunt down a pic of them at their current size.

Hee hee hee. I''m glad you''ve been paying attention DF. Nah, it''s not legal and its not true either. I was just trying to keep you on your toes.

No brothel owning here! (Yet...

And thanks DF. It''s been a hard road and it''s only going to get worse.

Here''s a pic of my car! 2001 Honda Prelude. Electron Blue Pearl. Standard transmission. My baby.

I think that''s all for tonight. More tomorrow.

Here is a pic I forgot I had of the turtles from over a year ago-they have reached about full size and haven''t grown much, if at all since then. They were sunning themselves out of the water here and giving me a dirty look for disturbing the peace. My mom loves to watch them.

Oh! I forgot to mention in the last long one about Dale and I that my mom was the one who suggested he move into the condo with me so that he could pay off his medical bills faster. She''s hardcore Catholic and pretty against living together-but it was HER IDEA. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Anyway. More tomorrow.

Freke, I am sorry about your mom. Hope she is faring well.

I REALLY was into the whole brothel tangent, waiting for Heidi Fleiss or Sydney Biddle Barrows type stuff. Thought THAT is how you afford all those shoes!

(an expensive habit I know, I wish we were the same size).

Thought CIA was the OTHER CIA...wondered why a chef was in the CIA, can you tell MY insomnia is hitting me hard?

Keep it coming...love to know about you too!

I thought it was that kind of CIA too hah. I had no idea she was a chef and I was soooo confused.

Freke, you got me all excited with the brothel bit and I was so let down. Bummer, I was expecting saucy details!

Thanks diamondfan. I so wish we were the same size. That would be fabulous.

Yeah I can tell you''ve not been sleeping.

I don''t really know where to go from here.

I took a bunch of pics of my paper pictures earlier-of food type stuff. So I have pics of two different wedding cakes now, a pic of my uncle''s 70th birthday cake, and a couple other randoms. I''ll probably post those soon. I also found out that I have a LOT of pics of food-not good pics and some of the food wasn''t so great either, but we had to take pics because we had to make a portfolio for our final grade. All of that stuff is from the community college here in NM, nothing from CIA because it was all lost. Poo.

I went looking for a pic of myself in some kind of chef garb for Dancing Fire but alas I couldn''t find any. So when I go to my parent''s house this weekend for Father''s Day I''ll look around over there.

Hmmm...

Here''s a pic of Dale and I. It''s pretty grainy because it was at night around Christmas 2006 and pretty dark.

Here''s a pic of all of the shoes that Dale has bought me. I''m pretty lucky. Especially because we are pretty dang poor.

Dang. Maybe I should post about why my BFF from 15 and I are no longer friends. That at least has some juicy details...probably later.

Here is a pumpkin I carved when I was a baking student (not at CIA). All of the culinary kids were talking smack to us baking students about how they had awesome knife skills (cutting things accurately) and we shouldn''t even submit pumpkins because they''d beat us so bad. Well. That Ped me off. So I decided to beat them. Didn''t tell anyone. Got a pumpkin (they were giving them to us for free) and the night before Halloween I went at it.

I candied some lemons, limes and grapefruit. This is basically making a sugar syrup and tossing thinly sliced citrus into it and letting it cook until the bitterness is gone and tastes pretty much like sugar. You have to drain it a few times and make new syrup-so it took a very long time. Then when they were finally done, you throw them on a pile of sugar so they are covered in crystallized sugar. Well I wanted to dye them too, so I added food coloring to the sugar syrup and they absorbed that. Then once the citrus was done, I carved a dragon while looking at a sticker of the dragon I wanted to carve out. So the red is the "fire" and red dyed lemons, while the green skin of the dragon would be bright green limes that were dyed. I had to use pins (for sewing) to stick the lemon/limes and make them stay in place while being moved.

So I went to bed at 3am when I finished, and got up early to go in by the time the pumpkins were due. Class wasn''t supposed to start until 2pm and pumpkins were due at 12-and it was a half hour drive from my parent''s house to school. So I get there, and about 3 people had carved their pumpkins from the same stencil. Losers. Anyway. There were three awards. Best knife skills, People''s choice, and Most Creative. People got to vote on their favorites-which I thought was cool, because there were always a lot of bored students wandering around the common area where we were having the contest.

I won People''s Choice and Most Creative. Take that culinary students!
11.gif

Afterwards the judges-three of the culinary teachers (the culinary dean, the Cooking 2 teacher, and Cooking 1 teacher) asked me what the green and red were made of, so I got to explain that to them-which made me feel totally awesome. Heh. Anyway. Here is the pic. I have another one but it''s a bit too big, so I''ll resize it and get it up here too.

IMG_1250 pumpkin freke.jpg

Not much better in pic quality, but this was outside in the dark when the original pic was taken. Taking pics of pics is hard work.

BTW my parent''s house is at the bottom of a hill, and they never get any trick or treaters. This was our first year of living in it and I was so upset that no one got to see it-with the candle in it the green and red looked like stained glass. It was really really awesome.

Yayayayay, thanks for the detailed story of the "getting together"! I love those kind of stories. Especially if it doesn''t involve sleeping with someone while still together with the former beau. I am not such a fan of those stories.

Blue Man Group...sheesh, I still haven''t been able to see them.

And the shoe collection!!!! You''re a lucky girl. It makes me almost wish I wasn''t single...
ALMOST!

I bet he gets to get to eat some damn good meals too.

My last real boyfriend, no wait, my ex-ex boyfriend was a chef and went to CIA in New York. Too bad he cooked all day for a living because when he got home all he wanted was a slice of pizza from the local shop or a burrito. I just wanted him to make me something fantastic. Near the end he did start to cook a lot, but by that time I already knew we were toast<----- no pun intended.

Thank you for sharing Freke...you''re gorgeous by the way.

Freke,
My best wishes for your mother.

1) Best wishes for your mother from me also...one of my best friend''s mothers has it and although I couldn''t imagine how it feels, I''m sure it''s terrible and puts everything else into perspective. I also found it really touching to read about your parent and how much they want to take care of you, they sound great! My dad won''t even go to the movie theater, let alone with another guy.

2) Gotta love a guy who buys you shoes...if only my SO would buy me dressy heels instead of Nike Shox!
20.gif
I LOVE the pink ones!

3) I always wanted to "test drive" culinary school but my HS friend who went to some sort of culinary academy in Chicago assures me that it''s not as easy and/or fun at all times as it looks (i.e. on T.V.). I bet your FF is in heaven with your cooking.

4) I have an African Spur Thigh Tortoise and am scared of it myself, it just keeps growing and growing...

5) I was confused when I read about the brothel thing too, I thought you did it to supplement income during school or something until I read the next paragraph! Haha

That''s all for now...interesting life story! Reality is so much more exciting than fiction!

Thanks for the lovely compliment miracles!

He does get to eat pretty well when I do bother to cook. Most of the time I make just sweet stuff which isn''t good for either of us, but occasionally I''ll try something new or just bust out with one of the old favorites. His favorite (and one of the fancier looking) is also the simplest-just grilled fresh salmon with steamed asparagus doused in lemon juice with a touch of salt. I know how your ex felt though, when I''d come home from school or work (when I was at the CC for my Baking 2 classes I''d be in school from mon-fri with 7 hours each day, and then work 10 hour days sat and sun) if I didn''t pass out immediately, I wanted Mickey Ds. More often than not, I should have passed out immediately (cell phone + chef pants + washing machine + New Years Eve = BAD).

And the sleeping together before breaking up thing--BAD BAD BAD. Lizzie is NOT a fan.

Here is a pic! (I''ll tell my life story in pics-more entertaining that way!) Pic of my uncle''s 70th birthday cake. the 7 cake was chocolate with Nutella filling and the 0 cake was white with buttercream. The 3D 7 and 0 were white cake carved out while frozen, covered in buttercream and then spray painted with edible gold paint. The stars are all gum paste and spray painted with the same light gold spray or painted with 24kt gold dust paint.
31.gif
Yup. No one gave me any credit though except my cousin whose house it was at. And there are stars on wire suspended on the top left corner of the 7 cake and the bottom right of the 0 cake. I would do it differently now, but it was a decent attempt considering I had done it all the night before!

Thank you Harriet. I spent lots of time with her today, but its really hard to see her like this.

Anna- thank you as well. It really really does put everything into perspective.

Dale and my dad go and see movies that my mom and I won''t see with them. Usually of the war type. They spent hours talking tonight while we were up there for Father''s Day. Anyway, my mom and I stay at her house and watch romantic comedies while they go watch their boy stuff.

Lol that your guy buys you Nikes! The other day I showed him my Crocs that I wear every day to school, so they''re almost smooth on the bottom, and he was like, "You know, I''ll buy you another pair of them if you want. You do wear them every day you know." And I thought that was so cute!

As for culinary school-no it''s not as fun as it looks on TV. It was a lot of hard work and a lot of studying-the first time around. And a lot of pain. For the feet mostly, but also neck and back pain from standing over stuff all of the time, as well as burns, cuts and muscle pulls from lugging around 50# bags of sugar and flour.

I hate to say it, but I love to show off to my friends. And my parents like to say that they paid all that $$$ to never have to worry about cooking Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner anymore ever. I literally kick them out of the kitchen unless they just offer me their company. And needless to say, they like to show my mad skillz off to their friends too. Lol.

Lol at your tortoise. They are so...unevolved. It''s like looking at a very small dinosaur. And they act like it too!

One of these days I''ll write up some other stories that I wasn''t much of a participant in, but more along the lines of being a slightly involved spectator. Or a highly involved spectator. Seriously though, they are so dramatic they get close to soap opera storylines.

Muah ha ha ha ha!!!!

Here is another pic. Wedding cake from October 2004-right after I got back from CIA. A friend recruited me to help her with it, and ended up paying me $50 for 24+ hours of work (24 hours just for baking/building/decorating the cake-none of the preparatory or experimentation work in the weeks before it). No there are no missing zeroes.

Not to mention the cookies from the groom''s grandmother''s recipe for favors... Anyway it was a white coconut/pecan flavored cake with coconut flavored bavarian cream as the filling, covered in Italian buttercream and icky fondant and it weighed a dang ton. After the $$$ incident and another (that was more of an artistic difference) that followed shortly afterwards, it is safe to say that she and I are no longer friends. Also, to note, the florist did the flowers, we had nothing to do with that. And a fair price that I would have charged for the cake would have been around $1k (150 ppl, fondant, detail work, special flavors, raw materials, labor, delivery, etc. etc.)...

But it came out nicely!

Wow Freke, everything is so pretty I wouldn''t want to eat it!

$50?!?!?! I know cake stands that cost more than that! Your friend definitely got a steal with that masterpiece! Too bad you don''t live in Indiana or I''d have you make my cake when the time comes...I''d even make it worth your while for $75 haha j/k
