Okay, 'fess up. Do you take vanity shots of your jewelry...just because you love it?

Do you take pictures of your jewelry just for your own personal enjoyment?

Okay, okay...I'll admit it. I love how jewelry looks. I love it in different light. I love it's moods. I have a mild obsession.
My camera roll is embarrassing shots of jewelry. If I could, I would just go into the business.

Am I alone here? Who else is guilty?

I would take pictures if I could manage to take decent pictures...I have a iphone 11 and I heard they take good pictures but you would never know it because my skills are that bad lol

Of course! Yasssss. I love taking bling photos. :)

If that makes me vain then I gladly accept. ❤️

Haha if you look at my phone you will see so many bling pics. Bling takes up at least 50% of my photos. The rest are cats and cycling and sea photos. Oops and ice cream. :)

Often I combine bling with my cats.

If I could take decent pics I would for sure.My photography skills are dreadful.I would love to capture the wonderful colours in my ripple pearls but they come out blaaah!!

I think I have more pictures of my somewhat small collection of jewelry than I do of family members. Jewelry stays where I put
it and doesnt mind sitting for long photo shoots. Family members...not so much!

I only take and post photos of my blings on bling related boards (I only participate in 2, PS and one related to pearls).

DK :))

I do lol. I think I have more pictures of my shineys than my cat and my kid. And I take tons of both of them lol

I love taking photos of my bling, if you look at my phone it is bling, grand babies, kitties & work. I keep special folders for my bling and grand babies!!!

Heck yeah I love taking pictures of it, love looking at pictures of it, love looking at other's bling (and glad they like taking pictures of theirs too...lol)

Yep yep, all the time. For me, myself and I to look at. Weird, but true...

I would love to -- and even have the equipment to -- but I'm amazed how hard it is to take accurate photos. I even set up a light box/tent and bathe the top and every side with Goodwill cast-off full-spectrum lights. Unbelievable pictures of junk (pennies, watches, etc.) but you need a well-diffused broad curtain of bright flash-lighting on the table to get the "true" appearance of a gem in a ring. I have not sprung for that yet and probably never will.

Yep, absolutely!

I would, if they didn't always turn out so crappy.

I’m not good with a camera at all, which is why I’ve never posted any photos of my own on PS.

I appreciate those of you who know what you’re doing and share your glamour shots! Especially the ones with your rings cradled in a bed of roses, sitting atop a downed maple tree branch beside a babbling brook, etc. Sheer talent!

I don't do that so much. I do take pics and keep them on my phone and look at them. But here is a confession for you. I watch dateline when Andrea Canning is on it, just for her jewelry. That girl has some great pieces. I even sometimes talk to her on social media to ask her about a piece she was wearing. I am a stalker like that. In a nice way.

I'm not judging that at all. Sounds normal and healthy. I did (of course) just go Google her and she DOES have great style and jewelry. An aside: her children are adorable.

Mine are not as fine as the babbling brook photos, but I did learn (through tips on here) to keep my back to the light, photo near a bright window. When I am using my phone to shoot the picture (Samsung Note) to touch the exact spot on the screen before I shoot so the camera can focus on the jewelry and not somewhere else in the field of vision.

There are some fun, fabulous photos on PS!

if the pictures i took, reflected what i actually see, then i would spend more time and take more pride in my jewelry photos. but alas my picture taking skills need more practice. i take images of my jewelry on an ,as needed as basis

i so do love admiring most of the images of jewelry nestled within beautiful blooms

I take pictures of my rings all the time! Also, the fact that I wear my wedding set 24/7, I even take pics while sitting in bed in pajamas.

^ what she said...

This is me too! I recently got a new phone so hoping this would improve my photography skills LOL.

I don't, unless I am taking it for a specific reason.

Does this answer your question?

I just looked through mine... Almost every screen has other people’s jewellery mixed in with mine. I think @MakingTheGrade’s cat features in almost every phone frame I’ve got

Guilty as charged! Lol

A screenshot of any scroll through my camera roll is sure to contain bling photos, either of my own or other inspiration pieces.
I even have separate albums for some pieces.
Admittedly, I am in desperate need of clearing out a lot of redundant photos.
Jewelry, nature, flea market/thrift photos,
grandpets and grandkids dominate my iPhone photo catalogue.
The value of photos for me is this; they help me process life and enjoy the beauty in it, very much including beautiful jewels.

I love taking photos so much that if I see a prop (ie fabric, or vintage find) that seems suited to my jewelry, I’ll buy it just for the fun of a photo. For example, some vintage compacts or jewelry boxes are great for this.
Does anyone else do this?

This is a vintage abalone belt buckle I found in a pile at the flea market for a few dollars.
I could see that it was beautiful in its own right and would make a beautiful jewel prop, so voila, it’s in my collection now. And an old Parisienne gem box. I passed on that one, but I may have to reconsider.

Sometimes the light is irresistibly good in a store or on a sunny day and it prompts a string of bling photos. I think it’s just good fun and therapeutic in many ways.

Absolutely! It’s so tempting because every new setting presents a new opportunity for a photo shoot, lol.
