All-

I appreciate all of your feedback that you have provided in this forum. I have been a thread lucker for some time and now I am looking to you for advice. 3 similiar diamonds and one girlfriend to buy for...so I would like to hear which one is recommended here on the forum and why?

I was trying to cut and paste info into here, as I wanted to keep the names of the companies off of here. (One to be fair and 2 each of these diamonds are from active forum members) But I want to make sure that you have all the info that I have- so here it goes:

Diamond #1
http://www.goodoldgold.com/1_56ct_h_vs2_h%26a.htm

Diamond #2
http://www.superbcert.com/Information/off_site_diamond_search.cfm/Action/View_Diamond/P/606/N/1;1

Diamond #3
http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-517510.htm

This should be interesting...I look forward to some unbiased opinions.

Thanks! And Kelly I am sure will say thanks- shh it''s a surprise don''t tell her!

Ugh, those are all gorgeous. I don't think I could choose just on specs alone. Personally I go with #1 the cheapest and/or #2 the one with the most responsive customer service.

goodoldgolds website is down right now so I will have to comment on it later:

The whiteflash diamond after the pricescope discount is the better bargian over the superbcert.
They are very close otherwise.
The aca is just slightly tighter cut overall.

Both have awesome scope images.

The lower price = winner whiteflash aca
But the final wiinner will have to wait untill I can see the goodoldgold's specs.

bump, as Daimond #1 website is back up

I'd recommend this one:

www.goodoldgold.com/1_51ct_h_vs2_h%26a2.htm

It's a 1.51 H VS2 with awesome optics, and really just a hair smaller ( 0.05mm -- all but impossible to tell the difference). it's about $1,000 less than both the other stones from GOG and Whiteflash, and a little over $2,000 less than the superbcert stone. Why pay more for virtually the same stone?

Just my $0.02.

Best of luck with your search.

DH - ALL look to be gorgeous stones, so there honestly is no "wrong" choice.

What has the response been like from all of these vendors? Which has earned your business? Those are intangibles that definitely factor into the "value" equation.

As I said, any of these would be a wonderful choice, but since you're asking for hairsplitting......

I would choose in this order: #3, #1, #2. It's a really, really close call between #3 and #1; not as close for #2. Reasons:

a. Stone #3 attains top ranking on the AGA charts; it's a 1A diamond; the other two are both 1B stones. Whether or not that will have much visual impact, hard to say.....but the distinction is there. 1A stones are tougher to find (hard to find the right crown angles!), so there is a bit of a premium on them. There is a $300 price difference in these stones, so you need to determine if you want to pay a bit more for the 1A rating.

b. Stone #1 is, I think, a clear winner over Stone #2. Stone #2 has a 41 degree pavilion angle; many of the respected vendors here all agree that 41 degrees is the critical angle at which a diamond begins to experience some amount of light leakage. While it appears as though Stone #2 does compensate for that with a shallower crown angle.....you already have identified two other stellar choices that fall under that 41 mark.

c. Stone #2 has the VVS clarity, but I'd rather pay for better cut proportions than for an improvement in clarity that won't be visible.

Good luck - let us know what you decide.

WOW - DH, I'd have to agree with Magnum!

This stone is a find! www.goodoldgold.com/1_51ct_h_vs2_h%26a2.htm

As Magnum mentioned, it's considerably less expensive, VERY little weight/diameter difference (neglible, actually).....and this stone also ranks a 1A on the AGA cut grader.

I'd ask Jonathan to take a look at this one (where the inclusions are, etc.) and if it's a go, I'd select this one.

OMG- the b scope results on that one actually hurt my eyes it was so bright? Beautiful !!! But weren't you looking at princess cuts before?

I meant "it was so bright!!!!!!!!!!" LOL

Rough Rock- who were you referring to when you called out OMG weren't you looking at princess before? If that OMG stands for something I am not familiar with that. If it was directed towards me, then no I am looking for brilliant round. Also, which diamond were you referring to as hurt your eyes?

We are both "rough rocks"!!! OMG means Oh my G*D!!!! And I was ref'ing to that amazing stone that was posted right before my post...I looked at the B-Scope results and it was SOOOO sparkly it hurt my eyes! (a good thing)...and I got you confused with princesshunter...who had just posted about a few princess cuts from Good Gold Gold!!!!

Good find Id go with this one also over the other 3
Otherwise the other GOG stone would be my pick.
They all 4 are awesome diamonds.
I just like the GOG diamonds a little better and the price is right.
