tnd.
A 'B&M' is an acronym for 'brick and mortar'
A store with a physical address.

Hearts and arrows can best be descibed on this site.

Hey TND~

Welcome to the Forum!

The only dumb questions are the questions that don't get asked!

B&M stands for Bricks and Mortar. Like your local jewelry stores actually built out of bricks and mortar. Some of the Price Scope vendors are B&M's and some are strictly Net companies.

Maul stands for Mall. You'll be seeing that one too. It's misspelled because Mall stores beat you up on price for mostly inferior quality goods. I know you didn't ask for that one, just thought I'd throw it in.

Hearts and Arrows refers to internal symmetry in SUPER IDEAL CUT diamonds. Using a special viewer, you can see hearts shapes looking at the diamond from the cutlet up, and arrows shapes when viewed from the top down. Arrows are actually visible to the naked eye in very well cut diamonds. Check out the Tutorial link and go through the pages:

http://www.pricescope.com/hearts_indx.asp

Clean, crisp hearts and arrows means the diamond has the absolute best CUT possible. CUT is #1 of the 4 C's of diamond selection.

Feel free to post at any time. Someone is always glad to help!

A wiser poet then I once said... "Better to ask and appear stupid, then not to ask and remove all doubt".

Although getting a little off topic, I believe the quote is:

"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"

HDS might be the jeweler's/jewelry company's "Hallmark". Very often, jewelry craftsman "sign" their work with a "Hallmark". Noted jewelers have symbol they are known by, others use initials. Mass production companies sometimes use the name, initials, or logo.

Then again, HDS might be the initials of the person who originally gave/got the ring.

Just a couple thoughts.
