Please choose my diamond for me!

This is for a bezel pendant for my birthday and all three options look good but each have their pros and cons.
and as I am super indesisive, I would love for those on here much more knowledgeable then I to make the choice for me.

Option 1: 0.413ct SI2 The cheapest option by $25

0.413diamondpendant.jpg

Option2: 0.433 J S12 The (slightly) largest of the three

0.433ctdiamondpendant.jpg

0.405ct J SI1 - highest clarityand smallest of the three, same price as option 2.

Hi 4

They all look good, if you wanted you could even look at a stone with shallower proportions, these can look great as pendant diamonds but are not always suitable for a ring. Check with the second that the cloud isn't causing a loss of brilliance by asking the vendor, do you have any actual images for these such as Idealscope or ASET? This would be preferable to these computer generated images. Also check that these are eyeclean, that might be the next step in narrowing down.

All looks good to me from the numbers and computer generated ASET.

They all look good, but 2 is the biggest.

The vendor has told me that these are all eyeclean and are very difficult to tell apart in person so any one would make a great choice. I do not have any Idealscope or ASET images, I feel like kind of a pest all ready for asking the vendor so many questions. I''d also like to make the choice soon before someone else snaps these up. I have thought about looking for a shallower stone (because it looks bigger

) but that would involve starting the process all over again! I''m too impatent!

The vendor said they would choose number three over the other two which confused me because it''s the smallest and it seems like I''d be paying the extra money for the higher clarity....Which I don''t really care about as long as it''s eyeclean. BF prefers better clarity too (option3) but I''d go for the biggest one as long as those inclusions arn''t a problem (option2)......but then option1 is in the middle and saving a lil bit of money.

Well, AGSO you will be unlikely to find a shallower stone as those cutter only send their stones to AGS in the hope of getting a 0 in cut, a more shallow stone is unlikely to get that score.

Go for Option 2 for me then... :P

It seems number two is the general winner?

I will check if BF is ok with this one (as he prefers and higher clarity) and make sure with the vendor that it is eyeclean and the cloud dosn''t cause a loss in brilliance.

It''s been hard to choose between the three as in cut they are equally as good, it''s just preferance for a better colour, clarity or size.

Would you even notice the size difference between a 0.41 and a 0.43?

There''s still time (around 6 hours) to chime in with your opinion before I let the vendor know my choice. All opinions are appriciated.

You need to look at diameters, not carat weight. The difference between 2 and 3 is 4.87 vs. 4.75. That''s noticeable in a stone this size.

Also, in smaller stones, color/warmth is not as easy to detect.

Well, they are all within 0.1mm difference in diameter. Not noticeable in my opinion.

I would probably go for the larger one, as Ellen says in this size small size differences can be noticeable ( I can pick out these things easily particularly with unset stones during direct comparison). It wouldn't be much of a difference and it wouldn't be noticeable so much when the stones are set but the one with the greater diameter will face up slightly larger.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

I went for option two- the biggest one (yay!) and now I''m really looking forward to getting the ball rolling and getting this made! (I''ve never had a peice of jewelery coustom made before).

I''m sure I''ll be back in early october to share photos

I can''t wait to be able to share. I''d never miss the oppertunity to share photos with everyone here. It''s because of people here I know about and appriciate diamonds and jewlery and other peoples pics and advice helped me alot when deciding what i''d like for myself.

I guess I can now add that the daimond and pendant will both be from Brian Gavin. I was a little afriad some one would see the stones here and swoop in and snap them up before I had decided which one I wanted if I told everyone where they were from.

I''m very excited about this birthday prezzy

UPDATE!

It''s finnished!!!!!!!

Lesley has sent me some stunning pics today of the finnished product and it''s so pretty!!! Very VERY excited. I don''t think I''ll post those pics ''till I also have my own to post so I can make a SMTR thread for it. As my birthday is still over 3 weeks away and it seems mean to leave everyone hanging like that for the best part of a month. Also, I promise to post some neck shots too as I always find that those are the most helpful for anyone looking for somthing similar. And finally, YAY!

I wish. However BF has forked out the money for it so it is his prezzy to me and I don''t think he''ll be letting me have it early.

Package arrived today and BF let me open it to check it was ok and I liked it. It''s beautiful but I''m dissapointed that it flips so much
15.gif
, I really didn''t expect it to at all and I know it will bug me. I''m going to try and get over it though, it''s still beautiful. At the moment I can''t imagine wearing it everyday, it''s so delecate I don''t want to break it and it feels too ''special''.

There''s no way I''m going to let on how disapointed I am about it flipping to BF- he got me exactly what I asked for and spent alot of money on it, I don''t want hm to feel bad which he wil if I mention it.

Anyway, it has been put away till October and I will be resisting the urge to play with it till then. Photos in SMTR once it''s officially mine :)

Oh no! I'm sorry it's flipping, and I can understand you not wanting to hurt your SO's feelings. However, it's not like you don't like the pendant itself, it's just that the design is conducive to flipping, which you had no way of knowing. I think if you explained that to him, he could very well understand. No one (including him) is going to be able to appreciate/enjoy the diamond if it's not showing!

I would speak to the jeweler about it, and see if anything can be done, besides changing the design. See what they say. And even if it needed to be changed, they might be willing to work with you. (price wise)

As for being "affraid" to wear it, that's what insurance is for. Just be careful with it, but wear it and enjoy it, that's what it's for.

Can't wait to see it, whatever it ends up!

Ellen made some excellent points. Its dissapointing when its not EVERYTHING you wanted.. I would say to talk to your SO and explain the situation. yes, he might get down at first.. but once its fixed (maybe put in a different setting?) and once you wear it constantly and love the way it shows.. he will be much happier. If it were me, id be upset if my girlfriend didn''t wear it that much =/. I would want her to change it so that she will wear it, and id insure it so she could wear it with no fears, as much as she wants :)

Good luck, I hope i could contribute

Great point as well. If he sees you not wearing it (and he will), that will hurt him as well. Just talk to him!
