Our jeweler called Thursday. The diamond in this PS thread has arrived back from the cutter. Its original shape was preserved and the re-cut diamond weighs 79.5pts, about 3 pts more than the high end of the estimate. Our jeweler noted that it was technically not an OEC, but was really something between an Old Mine and OEC.
The bad news is it did lose about a quarter carat. The great news is that we only lost about a quarter carat and should have a very nice stone for about $200.
I haven''t seen it yet, but the jeweler said he was very pleased with the result and that its quite pretty. I hope we can get in early in the week.
