Hello All. I've been reading for weeks on these boards about vintage diamonds. I was looking for a large OEC when I ran across this stone. Does anyone know what it is from looking at pic? GIA just says round brilliant. Also, any thoughts on the specs:

1.72 J, VS2
8.05 x 8.16 x 4.36
VG polish and symmetry
Say Fair for cut...but maybe that's because Gia doesn't grade for antique cuts?

The full specs in second picture. Anyone have any thoughts to help me? The stone is approx. 10k

Wondering specifically if too shallow?

I've not seen in person as I am working with a dealer.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like an early round brilliant to me. Have you seen this
Stone in person? Its got a few red flags. Its very shallow and
Its got a shallow crown. It also has a very thin girdle.

That looks like an early rb, not an OEC. And you are correct that GIA does not issue cut grades for old cut stones. That said, the thin girdle would need to be protected (bezeled maybe?). Have you seen it in person?

I've not seen in person and the dealer just informed me no returns or "live with" period for estate pieces. I'm going to pass on this one.

I think that was a wise decision. Too many red flags IMO.

You could give your budget and specs and ask PSers to help you find a nice stone.
