I got the go ahead to look for bday diamond studs!!! :appl:
But I have a few options.

I have a pair of .15ct OEC (.3tcw) from the setting I pulled my ering center from. I could just bezel those and call it a day. (cheapest option) But will these be too small?

I have one .75ct (5.6mm) Mish OEC. I got him on ebay for $400ish. I can find a friend for him and then set those. (more expensive- setting + price of new stone) Would like to stay in same range for second stone, but might be hard with the increase in prices.

Or not use any of the current stones and find a new pair of in between size.

I have never had diamond studs, so no major size preference. Leaning towards bezels or 8 prong. But don't want the diamonds to be swallowed up in metal though.

Definitely open to pre owned! So PSers, time to check your jewelry boxes!

Advice/links please!

I really wouldn't invest in the settings for .15 ct. stones, and you really couldn't do 8 prongs or the diamonds would be lost! I think finding a match for your 5.6mm stone is a great idea! That is close to the size of my current studs (but mine are .65 cts. each at that diameter).

It took me 2 months or so to find an acceptable match for a 5.4ishmm OEC on Ebay. Actually another PS'er Fortekitty found it for me :D

It was set in a ring and is currently at the jewelers awaiting to be unset and put in its new home. It was a bit more expensive then I bought the first OEC. I bought it from Uppy here on PS.

OEC's are becoming quite popular these days... that's a double edged sword. Their availability is increasing... and so are their prices. Don't be afraid to look at stones that are set and those that are loose. Also, lots of sellers measure the stone and then give the carat weight estimate according to a modern round, so make sure to get the measurements and not the weights.

The 5.6mm is a great size for everyday earrings in the "main" piercing. The smaller ones are great for secondary piercings too. :D

Good luck!

This is the listing ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/250952901850?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 ) for the ring that matched this stone very well

Thanks Yssie for taking the time to find the pic.

I do have those guys saved on ebay. I sent a few people questions, but havent heard back.

I will keep searching until the right one comes along. Or find another midsized set.

Davi that is a nice stone!

I'm searching for a similar size and having trouble finding anything acceptable that's less than $1,500. Prices have really increased over the last couple of years!
