Hi, everyone.

After looking at all of the beautiful settings that have OEC's, I noticed that the prongs on them go up and over a significant part of the crown which looks really secure to me. So, I was looking at my setting, and the prongs are barely onto the crown  My mounting is a Tacori, and wasn't made for my stone. My question is, do OEC's require setting prongs which are longer that are made to accommodate OEC's with higher crowns? If so, I am thinking I need to have a setting custom made to properly secure my stone, or else have my existing prongs built up which I am not sure that the end result will look good. I have attached my ring which shows the "barely there" prongs. Please provide your thoughts as they will be greatly appreciated. :)

I don't think I have observed the same thing. Your ring appears to have 8 prongs, so as long as they are securely holding the stone, they should be fine. Have a jeweler check it if you are uncertain. Are you maybe looking for a reason to reset? Because prongs can almost always be fixed if there is something wrong.

First of all, your ring is TDF! I missed it the first time around- just gorgeous!!!!
Second of all, I agree with DS. I think it is secure. Also, I trust Erica and Grace and after looking back to see more details on your gorgeous ER I see you got it from them. No way they wouldn't make sure your setting was secure so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Do you get it checked every 6 months to a year just to make sure all is good? I think that is what is recommended.

Love your ring! :appl:

Hi diamondseeker! Thank you for your thoughts as I am starting to feel better about the security of my setting. I love this setting because it has a tiny halo that, to me, hopefully will help in keeping me from chipping my diamond as it has a thin girdle.

Hi Missy! Thank you for your response as well and your compliments! DH said the same thing that Erica and Grace would not have released my ring if there was an issue with the prongs. I am overdue on taking my ring to the jeweler for inspection though :nono: .
