I'd planned on having my stone set in a fairly inexpensive setting here in Minneapolis and then flying to NY w/my fiance once I've proposed for a day of 'setting' shopping. I'm fine w/burning the $300 or so for the short term setting, but will a jeweler in NYC be able to set it while we wait? I'm not sure I'd want to leave a $10,000 diamond in a distant land. While it sounds like a fun way to celebrate, if it won't work, I want to be realistic about it. What do you all think?
