I'm not sure if this has been discussed and if so my apologies. I took my 2 daughters to this exhibit today and we loved it. Last time any King Tut exhibit was in NYC was 1979 and I remember wanting to go but my parents couldn't afford to bring all of us.

This exhibit has 130 artifacts and 50 of those are from his tomb. We were impressed by how beautiful these pieces were and how amazing the craftsmanship was over 3 thousand yrs ago. My 10 yr old said this was the most amazing thing she's ever seen.

If you're in NYC, try and see this exhibit..it will be here until Jan. 3, 2011. :wavey:

I went to see it in the 4th grade when it was in Chicago and can still recall a lot of it.
That was a lonnnnng time ago

OOhhhh, that is so magnificent! I saw it in NYC forever ago & again in Germany when I was on a business trip -- which I arranged specifically, knowing the exhibit was there. The materials & workmanship, all sheer art. I could just die wondering what even more unbelievable things were looted over the centuries from other tombs. Congratulations for seeing it & taking your kids -- they'll never forget it & it may spark an interest in them for later.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it! I wish I knew that there was a king tut exhibit in NYC before I went to the Cleopatra exhibit in Philly on friday-- it was interesting but not fantastic. I love ancient egypt--they had such a fascinating culture.

I saw the King Tut exhibit in NY in 1979 when it was at the Metropolitan Art Museum and I saw the present exhibit when it was at the Franklin Instutute in Philly. Loved both exhibits, but the one at the Met had more artifacts. I read that they won't let the mask out of Egypt any more because it got damaged at one of the exhibits.

I was also at the one at the Franklin in Philly. It was a nice exhibit but but my friends and I were slightly disappointed because less than half of the items were actually from King Tut's tomb, and they splashed all the promo materials with the famous mask and then of course, it wasn't there. I was there with two super Egyptologist nerds though, so we were probably the only people who found any fault with it whatsoever. Still, I would give anything to see the original exhibits from years ago!

My memory of the last King Tut exhibit. As a kid traveling to the Field museum and waiting as a family in line all excited to get tickets to the Tut exhibit, and the couple in front of us getting the very last last tickets. We were so disappointed we didn't even go into the museum but turned around and left!
