Hello all:

I am considering purchasing a setting for a stone that I already own. One Diamond District vendor is willing to sell me settings like those below for $1,100 in White Gold or $1,500 in Platinum. The settings on display look fine to me. What would you recommend? Apparently, these settings are manufactured in China. Has anyone purchased a setting from one of these vendors? How is the quality? Similar settings cost $5,000-$6,000.

Also, should I go with WG or Platinum? I thought platinum is the better choice, but the jeweler told me that Platinum is just a marketing scheme to make customers pay more money.

I am also considering having either of those settings done with three-sided micro-pave. Do any of you have rings like those above combined with three-sided pave? Would it look nice or would it be too much?

Anyone? Have any of you worked with MM Dynasty?

I have never heard of mm dynasty. the settings you posted are handmade rings the first by Ritani and the second is a micheal b . I'd suspect the rings your are talking about that are made in China are cast peices and labor is a lot less which is part of the price difference. i love 3-sided pave rings but would not trust a cast ring with it. If you've seen the setting in person and are happy with the quality and workmanship go for it. I personally prefer platinum but there are many happy White gold ring owners.

I would make sure they have a flexible return policy. Honestly, I would stay away from Chinese goods if you are looking for something to last a lifetime.
