Nowadays, Who pays for the wedding? What are the basic rules?

My husband got an unexpected bonus the year we got married and we used that to pay for our destination wedding. So my husband paid for everything and I planned it, not much has changed since. He doesn’t want to deal with major headaches or planning so he leaves that to me and I just use his checkbook (all within the budget he sets)
