A 235 carat diamond, the size of a hen's egg. Nare Diamonds Ltd said it uncovered the gem on April 19, 2006 at the Schmitsdrift mine in South Africa . (Nare Diamonds Ltd/Handout/Reuters)

I dunno, it looks a bit warm to me. Do you think it would be alright with white gold?

Maybe it will be a fancy yellow of some sort! It''s definitely a honker!

It could very well finish in the fancy catagory.
Yellow looks like pee to me tho.

Frozen pee - that''s a new one

Believe it or not..., it has the posibility to be Colorless!!!!

I would love to see what they do with it! I wonder what a guess of the yield of that diamond would be when cut for carat weight, and what shape it would end up as?

In terms of yield...they could probably squeeze two big honkers out of that!

one for you, and one for me...LOL

(unless Mara beat us to it!)

Looks like a classic Kimberly mine faint to light yellow stone, very clean, sometimes with a nice tone of fluoresence.

This will be an important finished stone, 100 carats plus, with nice secondaries...

WOW, how awesome. 100 carats??

So if Mara or some other hits 100,000 post do they get a 100 carat diamond from Pricescope?

Leonid should reserve this now...

Can anyone post the crown and pavillion angles so we can tell if it''s a good cut or not??

Seriously, what a stone. Does anyone have any idea how big that is IRL, the size of a piece of gravel, a quail''s egg, a chicken''s egg??

Thanks for posting that Agent3Civ.

I wish you well,

Bridget

Although rather difficult to judge from a low res photo, I am inclined to agree with Dia-Gem. This stone could polish white

The photo seems to indicate a highly weathered surface or possibly a resorbed diamond

In both cases it’s not uncommon particularly with alluvial larger stones to have a yellowish patchy outer skin and very white inside.

We should watch the mining press and see what becomes of this stone.

It belongs to a public company so will certainly get good press if it turns out to be a good stone

After it''s cut will it be bigger than mine?

I would love to see a photo story on it''s cutting process.

What a cool stone!
