Yes. My husband and children’s father was KIA in Iraq in 2009. They were 9 and 6 at the time.

Thank you all! It is difficult, even more so for my brother as today is also his birthday. We were hoping our Dad could hold on a little longer, but he was ready.

I lost my parents, especially Mom, far too soon.
The best advice I received was to give myself permission to feel everything I feel, whenever I needed. Then and even now.
I'll add, they never fully leave you, because they will always be in your heart.
