@AV_ Yes the doctor knows that he became addicted to the Afrin nasal spray..He said it was really common...What happens is you become dependent on it to breathe but you need more and more to clear your nose..He had no idea what was happening. He never wants that to happen again so I understand. Great news is he feels so much better at the moment. He’s smiling all over the place because he can finally breathe. I told him he needs to continue with the antidepressant. I feel he needs it..I’m just so happy he’s feeling better...Fingers crossed it stays that way.

We were seen by a lovelly Saudi doctor who turned out had trained at the med school in Dunedin, my home town

he said Gary is now free of infection/ irritation but its best to wait 6 months before surgery or irritation can flear up again, which is what our last doc told us
so then the consultant came to see us and said in 2 months they will schedule cataract surgery
he has some unusual kind that was caused by how long he had the irritation ? and this particular specialist is confident in it
so he only has to fumble around another 2 months

I’m so happy Greg isn’t in any pain at the moment. I know it must be stressful not knowing how his kidney stones will fare..with his knee surgery not too far off. Somehow..things work out...
I know this has been such a painful end of the year because of losing your sweet Francesca...I know what that feels like so my heart hurts for you. It took me two full years to get to a point where I didn’t burst out crying when I saw a golden retriever.

We had fun cycling yesterday albeit a bit chilly and we also (surprise surprise) enjoyed some ice cream.

Then we came back and I had a nice long bath (I am going to miss those when we are back in NYC and hopefully that will be just a few days from now) and we enjoyed a delicious dinner. We went to bed early (as usual) and it was a wonderful way to leave 2019. And wake to 2020.
Sadly my earrings did not arrive and who knows where they are. LOL Fed Ex never disappoints. I will wait before getting nervous where they are because when I track it still says delivery expected Dec 31st. Ummm been there done that and no delivery. Where are you beautiful earrings?

Today hoping for another like yesterday. Enjoy cycling, enjoy ice cream and enjoy a quiet evening. Not bad.

OMG so Fed Ex messed up. I tracked online and it still showed delivery due 12/31/19. OK so obviously that date has passed. So I contacted them via chat (automated bot) and all I got was delivery is pending but not sure when it will happen. So I called them despite the fact that their offices are closed and I got a customer service rep from out of this country who was very helpful. The nice young man on the phone found them for me! He told me the Fed Ex tracking isn't working for some reason but he was able to track them down and Greg went out and got them for me woohoo!

I hope your DD feels better soon @Jimmianne. Fortunately my cold only lasted 2 days, I dose up on Vit C and echinacea and find it really helps. I know exactly how you’re feeling, we always feel down when Adam and Kim leave after a visit, especially as they’re so far away.

@Austina I didn’t spend my mad money yet. The heart diamond was from leftover mad money last year..I think I’m done with that.
To tell you the truth..if i had less money to spend it would be easier. He gave me a large amount (to me) for a Christmas present...and told me that I should expect another large gift for my birthday on Monday. I feel I should buy one large gift..so a ring with it..The trouble is I don’t know what to get. I just reset Libby..and Iove it now..My son and daughter-in-law think it’s huge..lol...We just had this conversation during Christmas..It is so beautiful in person...It’s so clear and sparkly..I don’t want to part with her. So..I love asschers..but I would want it to be at least as big as Libby..Let me be truthful..She’s not small.but not big...Do I bite the bullet and trade her up and get the same setting..I don’t feel comfortable with that. Do I start over with a round through Whiteflash..and do a soli...and then incrementally trade up to a larger size? My kids would think I’m nuts...really...Do I get an asscher which will be beautiful but will look smaller than Libby now..with no trade up policy? Do I get an beautiful OEC because I don’t have one..and I think they are beautiful? It would be different than Libby..I need to see what I get on Monday first to see which way I should be thinking. I don’t want to do what I did this past year with my big birthday present. I bought many beautiful things instead of one big thing. I don’t know if I should have done that. I know this isn’t a big problem..and actually a little embarrassing..to be stressing about what to buy..but I need help and opinions... Keep in mind my age...Is this silly?

I love the single diamond bangle...I just always hesitated because I would want something hinged. The open space ones don’t look very comfortable to me. I’m leaning towards a solitaire of something..The OEC in the bracelet is beautiful. I would not be able to go to Old World Diamonds to see OECs so that would be a challenge. That’s why I would stick with Whiteflash because I know I love mrb’s. If my gift isn’t as large as the first one it will narrow my choices down. Thank you again..<3

Not silly. The only times I enjoy spending is to plug a whole - replacing something lost / finished. About new things, I am not easier to move than you are, so many small things make sense, one at a time.

To match an asscher to a two carat round I'd take a slightly shorter diameter - .9 or a hair less. A very small break from life as usual.

@Daisys and Diamonds you definitely hung in until midnight. I got to bed about 1 am. That’s late for me. That’s nice you slept in. We slept until about 8 am which is late for us. That will be nice if Gary can get cataract surgery in a few months and hopefully clear up his vision.

@missy how exciting your new phone will arrive tomorrow. I hope you love it as much as I love mine. Yes, I am with you on trusting people and generally I am not disappointed. When I am, I hopefully learn from it and move on. Glad to hear Greg is feeling okay. Glad you enjoyed my annual poem. Hopefully Greg’s procedure Friday takes care of his pain and kidney stone and the knee surgery can go as planned. That’s totally right we can’t take it with us and I’ve always told my nieces and nephews they should always suck up to us because whoever doesn’t is gong to be named executor of our estate and we aren’t telling them ANYTHING. One nephew always says “you’re looking pretty today Marcy”. I am not surprised Jimmy is a good family man; he sounds like a great guy in general. I totally enjoyed your pictures from 2019. That t-shirt is great and the perks of being over 60 are awesome. Great picture of Francesca at the beach house. Is Oliver still biting you and terrorizing the other kitties? Your new earrings are gorgeous.

@Jimmianne lol to icecream-o-medor. I so agree with you the iPhone 11 Pro battery lasts for days and I am loving the camera. You nailed it too, smart phones are essentially a handheld computer. I am never bored if I have my phone. The green is a cool color but it is dark. This time I didn’t even care what color I got; I cover it up with a case anyway. I can’t wait to see your bands. I am sure it’s both fun and sad to read your parent’s love letters. My dad had one from my mom folded up in his billfold. It was from when he was in the Army and serving in Korea. I think we have easily 2 tons of stuff we could get rid of too; I have boxes of my parent’s papers but haven’t felt like going through them. My back bedroom needs a serious purge of stuff I don’t need. I hate to hear your DIL and soon your DD will be heading back to France soon. You will miss them for sure. I hope DD feels better soon.

You have a lot of bling options on your mind - all of them sound great. Which on appeals to you the most? And once you add your birthday money you’ll have fun shopping.

We had 7 people show up last night for game night. I played cribbage with a friend and her step daughter but other than that people just talked. People went home as early as 9 pm or 12:45 am. I’d been picking up stuff off and on so when the last guy bid us farewell I didn’t have many more dishes to do. Woo hoo!

Marty made us toast, hash browns and eggs for breakfast. We went to his gym to lift. Then I made lasagna. Marty is working on a puzzle. I am doing laundry then need to finish the astronomy newsletter to post.

As for our weather it is blowing snow and cold but at least it’s sunny. Most of the highways around us are closed.

Was going to suggest either an antique/modern oval or an emerald cut but just saw you want to stick with MRB so an ACA you could potentially upgrade sounds lovely. And yes, once you get your bday money you'll have a better idea. Not silly at all to be stressing about a bling purchase...remember, you're on PS Lots of options but no rush so have fun with it!

@missy, great news that Greg is feeling ok and I hope this stone gets taken care of soon. Your new earrings are gorgeous - amazing diamonds and I love the rich gold color. Thanks for asking about my brother...he's been getting some sleep at night recently and hopefully it will last for a while. Oliver is such a pretty kitty. How are the other kitties doing? I'm sorry you're missing Francesca so much. And thank you for your kind words...yes, the holidays bring back memories, that's for sure...I'm always expecting to see her under the tree.

@Jimmianne, it must have been so bittersweet and touching to read those letters. I have a lot of my mom's belongings and I need for my family to decide what they would like...it's challenging because everyone is spread out. It's sad looking at pics of my mother as a young woman...so beautiful and young, and happy.

Congrats on the new phone and the gold bands. I'm amazed by phones these days. They truly are tiny computers. yeah, sometimes there's just not much else to do but look at jewelry lol...I'm not complaining. Oh no to dd having the flu, just awful and I hope she's better soon. And hopefully you can have a nice get-together before she heads back; totally understand being sad about her leaving.

@canuk-gal, you do realize you are torturing me with that ring, right? I adore the Tiffany Soleste and I love ovals...what a dream of a ring...

I've been wearing my rings around the house for the past few days, just to admire the sparkle. Why not, right?? Lol.

@Daisys and Diamonds, sounds like you had a pleasant and relaxing New Years. Good news about Gary's eyes but I'm sorry he still has to wait but at least it's gone down to 2 months. Having such poor vision must be very hard on him.

@AV_, hope you were able to do something fun and/or relaxing for NY's. And I hope your work is going well.

@marcy, your heart ring is beautiful and it would be great if the upgrade works out. Going to .75/.80 would be sweet! Yeah, it's possible to get dependent on nasal sprays like Afrin; it you overuse it, it starts having the opposite affect and creates more congestion. Love the original Jumanji...my kids were little when it came out and they were obsessed with it. Sounds like your party night was a success and a lot of fun. Yum to lasagna, one of my favorites.

Had a relaxing NYE - went out for an early dinner and then stayed in...our usual LOL. Our partying days are long gone...which is fine with us! DD went to a roaring 20's themed party at a friend's apartment In NY and DS's band was hired to play at someone's house...I'm sure the neighbors were thrilled LOL - hopefully they live on a farm or something.
