I am looking very closely at rings now, and I''m hoping to get some advice.

I''ve used a few threads and have decided to go the following route:
I''ve taken my gf shopping and we''ve decided on a round cut stone.
Looking for a 1.5 I VS2, and planning on buying it from Blue Nile.
(~8k)

Then I took her to Tiffany''s and a few local jewelers to look at settings. She loved the Novo setting, not so much the square cut. So we want to copy the setting, not so much the actual center stone, which is what I think the other Novo inspired threads are focusing on.

I found this setting:

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-2803_design.asp?module=setting

Which is pretty close to the Novo setting except for the mild cathedral look on the profile. And it''s a reasonable price too. Plus you can get the 6 prongs!!

Any advice or leads to other similar settings/ ideas to replicate the Novo setting with a round cut center diamond.

Also, any experiences with James Allen would be appreciated. BlueNile seems to be pretty universally lauded, but I haven''t seen much on jamesallen.com

I think this setting looks a lot like the novo http://shop.goodoldgold.com/index.cfm/a/catalog.prodshow/vid/46622/catid/170

I think the Jamesallen setting you have up look very much like the novo and you cannot beat the price and their diamond prices are very close with bluenile but you get more info from jamesallen than you do bluenile bc they give you pictures and IS images of diamonds

EDT: here is a link to a video that has some settings that look like the novo and the setting I posted from goodoldgold.com http://vimeo.com/3407789?pg=embed&sec=

Those other rings look lovely as well! Thanks for the advice, but the price on jamesallen.com is hard to beat, haha

Anyone out there have any experience buying a setting from an on line retailer and getting it set locally?

I''m sure the diamond effects thesize of the prongs they attach to the ring.

Also, anyone with experience buying from jamesallen.com?
