Hi everyone.

I know that there are some pretty good guidelines on the range of depth percentage for an ideal cut RB. I was wondering if there are similar guidelines for the Tiffany Cushion Brilliant cut or the Square H&S on GOG. From what I''ve seen, they tend to have a higher depth percentage (67% to 72% or so). Do these cushion/square cuts prefer a deeper cut to maintain its brilliance/fire/scintillation?

Thanks.

Well, Tiffany's Novo (which is what I assume you mean) is a proprietary cut AND is a fancy cut. Meaning that #1 there isn't a lot of info out there about the stones, and #2 being a fancy, it means you just need to purchase with your eyes.

The square H&A's are usually a deeper cut stone than some, but again, because it is a fancy you need to buy with your eyes. But really, they are all cut ideally in order to display the H&A pattern, so I wouldn't nitpick with these, just pick the one that suits your budget the best. Also, Jon would be happy to put any you are considering side by side and tell you what HE thinks, which is a great asset.

Bottom line is that for some fancy cuts there are ranges to stay in, but cushions don't have any ideal ranges. And ALL fancies should be bought with the eyes and the help of ASET images if they are available.

I don''t know if this is helpful but I just looked at a Tiffany Novo cert and it had these specs:

Measurements: 5.97x5.89x3.98 mm
Carat Weight: 1.00 carat
Precision of cut: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
ClarityL VVS2
Depth: 67,6%
Table: 60%
Crown Angle: 36.9 degrees
Pavilion Depth Percentage: 48.2%
