Hello PSers! :wavey:

I'm contemplating an upgrade from a 1.26 to a 1.5. But would rather wait and pull the trigger on a bigger jump if that means a noticeable difference in size.

Right now, I would be looking at going from a 6.96mm to 7.3+mm. Would this be noticeable?

At what percent change would the size difference be noticeable to the eye?

Thanks in advance!

Most people see a size difference at around .2mm

Everyone's eyes are different, though.

I think it would be noticeable.
That said - I think your choice to make that change depends on your longer term goals and the cost of resetting/setting.

I might try to wait for a more significant size increase if I knew I wanted to go bigger down the road.
Good luck weighing the options!

I'd probably wait and upgrade a .5 ct. 1.75 carats is a noticeable jump from 1.25 for sure! I have a 1.7 and I love the size. But, DSS has already set in and I wish I'd gone bigger!!

I agree with HappyNewLife .
I'd wait

I wouldn't go for less than 7.4mm at 1.5 cts. I think it is worth it if that is your forever size goal, but if not, I would also save longer and go for at least 7.6mm which is around 1.6-1.7 cts. It's expensive changing settings, so make the upgrades significant enough to last awhile.

Thanks guys for the feedback! That tool confirms for sure that 1.26 to 1.5 isn't going to be a noticeable difference! Esp. On a size 8.25!!!

I really don't have an incentive to go to 1.7+ since my mom has said her 1.7 bgd and 2.2 BG blue will be mine ....some day.... but at the rate we are going mom will outlive us all!

I've decided that the money saved from not upgrading will go towards the forever setting project for this stone. I've gotten one estimate. Two more quotes are being worked on... Hint hint...Since the stone is a BG blue, I thought I'd go with a blue themed setting hee hee hee...
