Hi there,

Is there a noticable difference between 6.80 diameter and 7.16 diameter for a round brilliant?
I'm thinking of exchanging my stone for the bigger diameter for not much more in price, but I would be going down a lot in clarity: vvs1 to an eye clean si2. Is the difference in diametre worth the stoop in clarity? All other specs are great.

Thanks in advance

That sounds like a huge jump in clarity for a stone that will "not cost you that much more and all other things being equal." You will see a small difference in diameter (assuming from the bigger carat weight- assuming you are going from a 1.2ish to 1.35ish (round diamond). I personally would wait to save for a bigger jump in size, but I would recommend that you visually look at some comparable stones to see how much of a difference in size there really is.

I agree a Vs stone would be more desirable than an si2....Are they both ideal cut. I'd stay with the smaller stone

Thank you so much for that advice. And you are right on with the ct weight.

The vvs1 I currently have is not Gia xxx though. It is x cut, x symmetry and very good polish - 100% cannot tell the difference between excellent polish and very good polish.
I don't mind not having gia xxx.

The one I'm considering exchanging is Gia xxx, but si2 - eye clean 1.33ct

The si2 scores xxxx on hca at 1.2
The vvs1 scores 1.4 xxx and very good spread.

I'm wracking my mind whether to make the switch or not. It's a few hundred more for the change so no biggie.

So I guess the bottom line is would you exchange an x cut very good polish x symmetry vvs1 1.2 ct for a Gia xxx 1.33ct si2?

Is the .36 mm difference worth the exchange?
