Not sure where to ask this question

When I purchased my diamond from a mutual friend/wholesale jeweler, the listing on her FB page was as follows:

"Looking for a diamond? Getting engaged or just want to upgrade. Here is an incredible deal. 1 carat Princess Cut, GIA certified, completely eye clean, nice white I color, in a Platinum crown/14K white gold solitaire setting....." (price omitted)

She asked me to return the setting to her after I had it set into my own setting, which I did. I didn't think anything at the time, but recently ran across the description saved on my computer. Then I thought, why did I have to return the setting? It was included in the price and description.

I am friends with her, but this was a business transaction. With the price of gold, etc., I don't think she should have asked, nor should I have given back the setting. Your thoughts?

Just my opinion, but people who are selling the center diamond or the setting only specify that in their auction. And pretty much 100% will have separated the two from each other and send just what is being sold.

Also, if she is not selling the setting, why describe it in the auction?

That would be the business end. Friendship is another. Not sure how long ago this took place, but when she asked for it back would have been the time to speak up. She probably had the same thought as you, and sold the setting for metal content, so it is probably gone by now.

Yeah, I would have to say that the description above pretty clearly includes the setting and it was a mistake to send it back. That said, I'm with the above that's it's probably long gone into the recycle bin. It probably brought a hundred dollars or so. You could, perhaps, make a stink about it and get something out of her but this sure sounds like water under the bridge and a way to lose friends without much chance of return. It seems like a losing fight to me. Write it off as a mistake and move on.

Yes, that description definitely implies that the setting is included. But I think the time to say something would have been during the transaction- since the person is a friend, it probably is best to just let it go.
