Been searching around and browsing sites that are linked from this site...but I''m a little lost.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1083367.asp

Ones a little bigger but other than that they are pretty close. Why the HUGE price difference, is it because of who is selling it?

Yes & no.

You'll pay a premium to anybody offering AGS good providing the grade of 0 for light performance. And...I'd buy one from anybody.

But..on top of that, WF adds their own inspection of these on their "A Cut Above," options...and this probably carries a premium I'd consider optional.

Helpful?

Do read about what AGS has done for Princesses here, doing a search. I'd pay for that premium.

P.S....you meant to mean that's a $1k difference, right?

Opps..yeah, $1000 difference. Is that cerfitication worth $1000? I guess it would keeps it value better no?

"Do read about what AGS has done for Princesses here, doing a search. I''d pay for that premium."

What do you mean by this? Their reputation on this board?

Well, the reputation, based on the underlying science.

Try it & see.

Type in:

AGS AND Princess*

above under search, and see what those 300 results are about.

unless you are planning on selling it or something at some point I wouldn''t pay for the price increase. It is probably not a difference that you can detect by just looking at it.

without either having the 2 diamonds in front of me, or ideal scope images from both, then its hard to judge purely from the specs alone. But the AGS 0 princess have a rep for excellent light return.

maybe see about getting both stoned shipped to an appraiser near you so you can view them side by side and see if one speaks to you - and if you do a blind test - ie dont know which is the JA stone and which is the WF you''ll know its the performace rather than the money swings your dicision.

if you dont see much/any of a differance - go with the cheaper stone.

And the more light that is returned the better the diamond looks...correct?
