Greetings! This is going to take a bit to get the few pictures loaded & pardon my nails. We are starting to pack for a move.

Anyway, this is my grandmother''s wedding ring (I say that becase it''s the only ring she got). It''s very worn. The band has been repaired, had the stone replaced and as you can tell, a bit of the detail is simply worn away. I used to be able to wear it on my ring fingers but due to medication I can''t slip it on anymore. Anyway, it''s been languishing my jewelry drawer for ages; even before my fingers became fatter.

I''d like to find an inexpensive setting to put it in that doesn''t look overtly modern but isn''t a design of its time. I really like "retro" designs from the 50s, 60s & 70s but I haven''t come across a site that offers settings from these decades. I''ve found a couple of wedding sets on evilBay that I like but I''m not sure I could have this stone (If I recall, an OE cut, but I could be mistaken) put into one of them. If it''s OK, I could post those wedding sets in this thread as well.

I can''t remember much about this replacement stone as far as what many of you know about yours. Heck, I don''t even remember the exact carat but I can tell you it''s in between 4-5 mm, being almost right on 5 mm.

If I can post those other wedding sets I will, after I get the go from the mods here, but if any of you have any leads regarding inexpensive retro mounts I''m all eyes.

Just to be clear, I don''t want another filigree style ring at all.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I''ll add a few more pics over the following minutes.

I just noticed a kitty hair caught under the ring in the last picture.

Almost done.

It''s been frustrating trying to get a decent picture of the stone. The way the stone is mounted keeps a lot of light from moving through it. Combine that with needing a cleaning as well as have an all-but-dead digital camera that will only stay on for 60 seconds at a time and you have what appears to be a very lifeless stone, IMO.

Sorry about that. Thanks for looking just the same.

Well, since I haven''t gotten a bite yet let me just outright ask because I''m not sure how black-white this issue is BUT can images from evilBay be posted if there are no links to the seller? They would just be used as examples, not anything more than that. It''s the only site where I''ve found images of settings that appeal to me that fit into the decades I''m inquiring about. Thanks.
